  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently purchased a set of 18" Genesis wing center caps from a vendor on eBay:

Seller: mirine( 2173)
Feedback: 99.8 % Positive

Although they shipped fast and the Seller has great feedback, the caps I purchased have developed blisters and some of the paint is already coming off (installed the caps around 11-1). They came in "official" Hyundai wrapping and seemed to be OEM parts. Has anybody else purchased similar items from this eBay seller and, if so, are you experiencing similar issues? I have emailed them about the apparent defect but as yet no reply.

Is there another Vendor that I can get these caps from that might provide a better part?

Just checking, be sure you removed the plastic covering before installation, that has tripped up a couple of folks.

Marty, this is the first I've heard of a steering wheel emblem without replacing the air bag. I looked on eBay and it looks like it just sticks right over the the "H". Is it really that simple?

Oops, I now see there is a long thread about this which I had assumed was about the air bag so I had not read it.

I am pretty sure those are official Hyundai parts. My 17" caps purchased from the same vendor have the Hyundai hologram sticker on inside.

I don't think you can blame the seller on eBay.

Thanks for the reply Mark. Sorry if it seemed that I was trying to blame the Seller, I was just trying to get some clear indication whether or not these were OEM or just packaged that way. The Seller has a money back return policy of 14 days, but the caps didn't manifest this issue until after that time had gone by so no recourse there.

If they are OEM, shouldn't there be some process of returning them through Hyundai? We buy these parts on eBay or from other sources, but as genuine Hyundai parts, shouldn't there be some mechanism within Hyundai USA to report these defects and get some resolution? I went ahead and purchased another set (boy has the price dropped!) so I can change the first one's out as needed (already changed out two). Seems that the long-term quality just isn't there on these center caps yet, at least from my perspective.

I was assuming that your hubs had the Hyundai hologram sticker and that they were official Hyundai OEM parts for the Korean model.

If they were installed on your North American vehicle, then I assume that HMA (Hyundai Motor America) would replace them, but since they are Korean model parts, I doubt that they would. But you can always ask.

I know some dealers have those parts, but I don't know if they are imported by HMA, or whether the dealers get them from the same source as you.

I would bet that the company on ebay would sell you the hubs one at a time if you didn't want to purchase a set of 4, especially if you explained that you originally purchased a complete set from them.
