  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got into my car yesterday early morning. Everything was fine. Did my chores and returned home. Everything fine. An hour later, had to go out, and lo and behold, no NAV screen. The 8.1" screen in my 13 RSpec was no working...nada! No bluetooth and no NAV. However, when I put the car in reverse, the backup screen worked, MINUS the red/yellow/green bars.

The small screen between the tach and speedo kind of works, except when u switch it to radio, XM in particualr, doesnt show station. Radio does work but keeps switching stations on me, and the same goes for XM, which always returns to XM preview channel. And from station to station...very slow.

Have no idea of temperature setting, or really anything else. Took it back to dealer Saturday afternoon when none of the service techs work, and the salesman believe that it is a software issue. They are arranging an appointment for me with service to bring in the car Tuesday, believing that this is a software issue, and if it is, will do a complete update on the system. A 3hour update

Anybody else have the same problem, and was it the software?

You may want to try this. Disconnect any usb drive or Ipod . Then disconnect the negative battery in the trunk for about 10 minutes then reconnect. Do not reconnect usb or ipod. Start car and let the system completely reboot (maybe a minute or two) before putting car in gear.

Thank you. We disconnected the battery and let it stand. We then reconnected the battery and restarted the engine. Nothing! I have no iphones etc., or USB sticks hooked up, and nothing. Maybe a loose connector or defective unit, or a software upgrade. Don't know but it is going in on Tuesday. Will post result then. Again, thank you for your suggestion.

PDI fuse. Check the driver side fuse panel, there's ether a yellow switch on/off or a fuse with a yellow plastic on it. Pull it out or switch it to off then back on.

It happens, fuse wasn't pushed in correctly or not fully on.

Thanks Ron. I am presuming that thats the fuse box inside the car and not in the motor area. I' will look at it tomorrow before i go to the dealer.

UPDATE!!!

They have to order a new NAV unit. Wires and fuses are fine. Another week til it gets in. Stuff comes in on Tuesdays. Oh well. Thanx for your input!

Did they say what this would have cost if it wasn't covered?

I'm headed to a dealership tomorrow to check out two 13 genesis.. I'm trying to decide whether should be prepared to negotiate a platinum warranty

I was looking at a Hyundai parts catalog online and found these for the 17 speaker Tech Package System for the entire headunit/Nav/CD/etc module:

CD player, W/navigation sys, W/telematics
INSTRUMENT PANEL »Sound system
Hyundai › Genesis Sedan › 2013-2014
List Price : $6,951.37
Your Price : $5,561.10

This appears to be the display only, although not 100% sure. It's possible it also contains what is referred to as the "head unit":

W/navigation, W/XM satalite
MONITOR ASSY-A/V FR
INSTRUMENT PANEL »Sound system
Hyundai › Genesis Sedan › 2009-2014
List Price : $1,865.06
Your Price : $1,492.05

The amp for the 17-speaker system is in the trunk, and is separate:

Amplifier, 17 speaker sys
EXT AMP ASSY-AV
INSTRUMENT PANEL »Sound system
Hyundai › Genesis Sedan › 2009-2014
List Price : $3,747.79
Your Price : $2,998.23

It's hard to tell from the descriptions alone what these are, but there was a diagram that showed what they looked like and the location in the car. Obviously, labor would be extra out of warranty.

Keep in mind that you can purchase the platinum extended warranty at any Hyundai dealer, including some online or by phone.
