Aftermark Nav/radio integration.

Hi folks, certainly hope someone can help. I have a 2009 3.8 sedan with the upgraded Lexicon radio/speakers, but no nav. I never changed it because then I wont have a display for the climate controls. Has anyone changed theirs? If so any comments or concerns. I have heard of a company called Rosen that makes OEM aftermarket radios and nav units that mimic the factory radios. But no luck on them so far.

Certainly a most ambitious project. The factory infotainment system is so integrated into the car nothing short of removing the desired parts from a wrecked Genesis would probably work. I have looked on sites like Crutchfield for anything on aftermarket Genesis systems and there is nothing So many of the cars basic operational structure is integrated into the stereo I think anything not designed specifically for the Genesis would not work. The other problem is getting it fit in the dash without looking like an afterthought or a hack job.

I agree that the system seems so integrated that it's a wonder it works as well as it does from the factory -- much less trying to shoe-horn some aftermarket stuff in...

IMO you may be better off selling your car to a private party on the open market and purchasing a 2009 or 2010 from a private party with nav built in. If integrated nav is very important to you, although somewhat more cost up-front at least that way you'll have a reasonable expectation for everything to "just work".

Next time you buy new you can just plan to pop for the nav up front. I had been a Garmin devotee up until this purchase last October, and I do acknowledge that the Genesis nav is not as good, but there is certainly something to be said for the integration -- even at the cost of an extra couple thousand bucks...
