  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Why did Equus Air Strut cost so much to replaced? If they know it was any issues, why NO RECALL on this??? Clearing fault can only be my the Dealership, this some BS.

I think the correct term is air strut. AFAIK, they are expensive on every car that has them, whatever the car brand may be. It is also my understanding (but not by any first hand experience) that they are a wear item, and as such have a limited lifespan.

Most luxury cars with air suspension have to be replaced with a very large price tag. My coworker at work is complaining about replacing his 2011 Land Rover air shocks at about $1500 a shock. There is a price to consider when driving a car with high end options, even older ones.

You can clear the code without a dealership, but it requires a special diagnostic tool like this.

I have a 2013 Equus Signature. The rears and the solenoid were replaced last year under the Hyundai extended warranty. The front right Air Strut started to leak a few weeks ago. OEM part in Canada is $2400 (for one). Independent garage told me to check out prices on Ebay. I bought 2 on Ebay for $700. Took a few weeks to get here but had them installed today. Seem to be working but still need to go to the dealership for them to reset the software. Appointment set up for Monday. So far Ive spent $1000 to replace both fronts, way better than the Hyundai price. Will let you know how it goes at the dealership.

How did that go?

Wow, it took a long time! Once at the dealership (FEB 8), I was told it needed a headlight level sensor. Ok, but there wasn't any in all of North America. Took 5 weeks to get one from Korea as they were backordered there as well. Was going to get a used one but the delivery time for that was several weeks as well. Part came in first week of March, installed and reset the suspension, $744 CDN.
Been driving it for 10 days, all seems fine.

There are conversion kit for around $1200. If you don't want to deal with this ever in the future, you can get it done for $1500 including labor. And sell the swapped out air suspension parts for a few hundred $ to recoup some cost. The downside is ECS warning will stay on, until someone figures out how to by pass it.
Personally, I prefer traditional spring & shocks because this car is perfect for long distance road trips, and you don't want any possibility of suspension fault leaves you stranded in the middle of no where.
