Okay, so has anyone else had issues with the airbag seat sensor connectors on the 2017-2019 Genesis G90? I just now had my airbag light come on for the 4th time for the same code. Let me tell the whole story.
So, let’s start from the beginning. We bought this 2018 G90 5.0 from carmax in July of 2021. When we bought it, the airbag light was on and carmax offered to fix it. So we took it back shortly after getting it and carmax fixed it by replacing the seat sensor connectors. This fixed the problem temporarily.
So late 2021 rolls around (I believe around November) and the airbag light comes on again. It’s for the same code and this time we take it to a genesis dealer. The genesis dealer replaces the seat sensor connectors and said they “rearranged the wires because it’s a poor design”. Anyways, this fixes the problem for a while.
So October 2022 rolls around and the airbag light comes on again. This time, I decide to contact corporate because at that point I started to think that there was either a design defect or our car was a lemon. Corporate proceeds to schedule us with the dealer with a loaner. Apparently at first they needed to order some part but then later said they didn’t need it. They replaced the seat sensor yet again.
Now, 6 months later, the airbag light is on again for the 4th time! This is incredibly frustrating as this is a safety concern. Any thoughts? I am attempting to contact corporate again to reopen my case with them.
So gist of this. Has anyone else had problems with the seat sensor connectors on these G90s or is ours a lemon?
Also, it seems like the passenger seat is the worst. Maybe the connector is not reinforced for all the movement as it moves back when the door opens and moved for the rest function is the back seat?
TLDR: the airbag light came on 3 times before and it was and has always been the seat sensor connector. Thoughts?
