On the dash, the airbag sensor light has been on for the last five or six weeks constantly while the cars being driven. I was told by a mechanic that it refers to the passenger seat's lower-seat airbag, and that the most expedient/easiest thing to do would be to get an entire new seat rather than hunt around and try to quiet the sensor or fix the airbag.
One immediate problem is that my car is just now up for inspection, and Massachusetts may not allow this to go through.
Does anybody have any experience in fixing these airbag sensor lights? Does it always mean that the sensor is "right" and that the airbag is bad? Is there an easy way to find/replace the airbag and/or only the seat? I have been very good to these seats, with care and conditioning of the leather and so forth and I hate to get a worse looking seat. Any good place to find these aside from eBay? Does anybody know if the lower seat assembly is exchangeable between the driver and passenger seat, understanding that the movement controls are asymmetric.
