Purchased by vehicle here so returned for my 7,500 mile service. On a bad - good - great - exceptional scale, I would rate this a good experience. I will likely try the Stafford Genesis dealership next given what I have seen from the reviews as a nicer facility and more responsive customer service.
My review. First, called to schedule a loaner. Left a message as I was told “it was busy” according to the person who answered the phone. Wasn’t called back that day so called back the next day and said I wouldn’t leave another message. Scheduled for later in the week. Once actually on the phone with someone, was nice experience.
Drop off was okay. A great or exceptional rating would include in the email reminder of my appointment the items needed for my loaner (insurance card as example) & accept those in PDF. Further, the email would have Genesis branding rather than Hyundai.
Loaner itself was a Sante Fe Ultimate. Got the “no Genesis loaners available” despite several on the lot. But I understand supply isn’t easy to come by.
Standard work order for 7,500 miles. I did identify to the service writer that a foam block was eaten up/eroded by the engine block. This was discovered after I picked up the car from its first oil change at 3000 miles & looking around to see how well the job done (ie, should have been caught by the person doing the oil change/inspection). Well, the part took Fri/Sat/Mon to arrive. No big deal as I had the loaner. Parts availability will be something to monitor in the future.
Car pickup okay. Those familiar with the dealership will know the place is small and cramped. The space is tight, old, and as clean as an older building can be.
Upon getting home, lifted up the hood to look at things (as there is no room to do that at the dealership). There was oil smudges everywhere where I assume someone didn’t put down a cloth while leaning into the engine. Also excess oil around the cap and on the plastic “cover” part. I wiped it all up easily but the difference in pride in one’s work and just get it done to me.
Also, I’m fairly sure the cabin air filter was changed as the air seems to smell better in the car but it isn’t on my receipt so will make sure. I also didn’t get any “condition” report from an inspection but I assume they will let me know if something needs to be done.
All in all, I’m satisfied with the work but this is a small dealership. Sure, there is a cup of coffee and a lounge in which to sit. I would expect, however, that if I didn’t have a competitive advantage in facilities that my customer service would be off the charts. I think there is much opportunity here but I suspect Genesis will be an enhancement to this dealership rather than a standard setter.
We will see what happens at Stafford Genesis.
