  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I saw on the Hyundai website that the Sonata now has the Android Auto upgrade. So I called Hyundai and asked about the 2015 Genesis and was told we ARE getting the upgrade to Android Auto, but he could not confirm when that would be. He suggested I keep checking with www.Hyundainews.com to watch for the announcement. I know others have questioned whether we would or not or if they are waiting for the 2016 model, but it is coming. This was also confirmed by the tech guy at my dealer. Let's hope it is soon.

Well this is some good news! Thanks!

I have never had reliable information on unreleased products from calling a manufacturer customer service line. That statement is also in opposition to other press which reported the Sonata is the only model that will be upgradable after it ships on new cars.

The CS reps who man those phones are generally the last to know about new features and will generally do as you were told: show empathy, respond that it should be coming and to check the web site. Not trying to be negative, but the call center staff is the last to know.

All lines or just the ultimate?

Based on an earlier thread, it seems that it will likely be at the same time (political parity) or the lower end system first. The lower end system is just like the Sonata while the Ultimate system runs different hardware and OS.

The 8" Genesis system is the same as the Sonata with a different rev of the O/S (8.5 vs 8.0 if I remember). One of the reasons I chose it over the Ultimate is that it "seemed" that it would be destined to get the new upgrades already announced for the Sonata.

The 9.2" version is different hardware, O/S, drivers - everything.

The split screen ability on the 8" display is the only really overt difference in operation that I know of.

Who knows how this will play out, but the Ultimate will probably be the later of the two with the upgrades. Just makes technical sense.

Dumb question, could the ultimate DIS simply be flashed to a different operating system if so desired?

Possibly, yes. Practically, no.

Yep. They'd essentially have to go back on all they did to create the Ultimate system. Clearly they spent a lot of time and money sourcing the different hardware (Atom), having someone create a MeeGo-based system etc. It is hard for me to believe they went through so much trouble just to be different. There has got to be something with the Ultimate system that truly necessitated going away from what is in the Standard/Sonata system.
