Android Auto upgrade not available in 2015 with Premium 9.2” Navigation System.

I might be a little late with this information and I searched the forums, but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Just found out that the Android Auto upgrade is available for my 2015, but because I have the 9.2 nav screen, etc., it will not work in my car. Why is that? Has this changed recently? I'm usually a little behind with stuff like this, so someone tell me if I am missing something or incorrect.

Nope, that is correct. Different head unit on the Ultimate and not compatible.

The 9.2" Systems were built on a different platform, and they had an issue that the hardware itself was not compatible.
For 2018, that was modified, so 2018 models with 9.2" DIS systems do have AA/CP standard. The bad news is that 2015-2017 9.2" DIS systems will not ever be able to be upgraded due to the hardware incompatibility.

If it is of any consolation, after I had CarPlay on my 2015, I ended up going back to using the original Genesis system to integrate with my phone. I found it faster to do stuff as the tacked on CarPlay was fiddly to get around in. I use the voice button to activate Siri to send and read texts, bluetooth for audio, the phone screen can show Waze or my audio player, and the Genesis screen is my Nav map. I have a center tunnel mount for my phone so it is mounted to the car and charging while I drive. YMMV

I have this setup. I use a generic good quality cup holder phone mount purchased from Amazon.com.
