  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there a solution to the drivers side wind noise that a lot of people are reporting? It sounds like a window is cracked open at 55-60+ MPH.

Went through a bunch of threads with nothing concrete - didn't want to dig up an older thread too. I tried the tape trick at the bottom of the window where it meets the door and didn't really notice a big difference...

I'm having the same issue with driver side wind noise. Seems to have come on slow then getting worse. If anyone has figured this out--help would be appreciated.

I had the issue on my 2015 Genesis. I had the tech ride with me and he ended up replacing the door seals, and also adjusting the door to be tighter.

I encountered this noise on the 2015 I just picked up, it did sound like the door was ajar. However, after experimenting a bit I think I fixed it with a small piece of electrical tape on the top corner of the windshield. There is a small gap between the roof and the removable side molding that runs up the windshield. It just so happens to start whistling around 60mph. So far I haven't heard the whistle again but e-tape isn't a permanent fix.

my 2015 driver door inner seal was replaced by the dealer last week to solve my air whistle problem, seem to be the fix.

Can you take a picture of the seal, please? I believe there are 3 seals.

Genesis 2015 owner: same issue.

Suburbazine, whould you be so kind to put some pics of your fix?

Sorry for the delay, forgot to reply.

I changed it to black RTV which is code for Grey RTV, significantly reduces the noise at the top of the pillar. I have some wind turbulence noise from down by the mirror but not sure that's correct able because folding the mirror changes it.

Thank you so much! I'll try too. Any other solution is possible -- maybe some wax type paste to that "hole?"

Hi guys,

Genesis from Chicago area - we had severe winters and I noticed an increased noise around the car plus rattling in the doors. Naturally, ice and cold weather reduce the condition of the rubber seals. I used advice from someone on this forum and purchased Krytox GPL 205 Grease, Pure PFPE/PTFE, 2 oz Tube (link attached).

It's magic! no rattling, much quieter inside - super happy!

You're welcome.

Also check the driver's door seal that is located on the door opening, around the door strike (the U shaped one attached to the B pillar, it tends to wear away from getting in and out of the car, and leads to extra wind noise, mine wore and was replaced and the 2nd one is wearing also with increased road noise as a result of not sealing properly.
