  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, I'm very new to the Genesis platform. I actually picked up a 2013 Genesis Sedan less than a week ago. Since then I discovered the car actually does not have stock HID's.

On my old car (2004 Nissan 350Z) it was possible to switch the '04 headlights with the '06+ bi-xenon as long as they weren't the base model (non HID), and you would have a 100% OEM and LEGAL HID kit that was plug and play.

Anyone know if this is an option for the Genesis Sedan? If not, are there any high quality retrofits on the market (pay a little extra not to have to do the work myself and fudge it up)? Or am I going to be forced to bake my headlights, pop them apart, retrofit new projectors, and install an HID bulb?

Another though, do any internals from different years fit? I found a HID genesis headlight online with a cracked housing, but with the OEM HID internals for $90 on eBay. Does anyone know if I could buy a set like that and just swap the guts into my housings without a problem, and if so, would the setup be plug and play?

Thanks,
CT

I've noticed that used Genesis sedan HID headlights actually sell for pretty cheap. Probably your best bet.

If you want to go 100% OEM and legal direction, then you would need all the parts from below:

- HID headlights
- Auto Leveling Sensors
- AFLS ECU
- Repin the connectors and run additional wires with thicker guage wires where it needs them (probably for just power and gnd for the HID)

If I were you, I would probably buy an aftermarket HID kit and call it a day.

He only needs to do the 1st and last items. The autoleveling sensors and AFLS are not required to correctly run these, just if he wants to run them as Hyundai engineered them. In the end, it's probably cheaper than retrofitting them.

Yea, they are not required. But I thought he wanted the HID headlight to operate exactly same as the OEM one. If he doesn't care about auto leveling and AFLS, then he can just get the HID headlight and maybe repin them and power that thing on.
