  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The dealer convinced me to do a "maintenance" alignment at 13 months and 15K miles. I was not experiencing any alignment symptoms but I caved to the pressure. The results, however, leave me puzzled. They claim that they "can't" adjust caster. I am reading that most shops don't bother because it requires a shim kit. Some don't because it is more labor than calculated for an "express alignment". And, on some vehicles, it may not be possible.

First question, how much caster misalignment is worrisome? Second, does anyone know if our GV60 system can be adjusted or shimmed?

For the record, I have put 80K miles on vehicles and never seen any tire wear that warranted an alignment. I only bothered with this one because I have been chasing ride disturbance on this car, have had all 4 tires replaced (with no noticeable improvement) and thought I could use the additional data point.

and all insight, debate or discussion is welcome!

I just had mine aligned at 33K miles, and it was red at 5.2 on LF caster, going green at 5.3 after alignment. The tech said Hyundai/Kia/Genesis cars are more easily configurable than most.

My shop lists factory spec castor at 5.9 to 7.6. Mine ended up at 5.4 to 5.6 but Bear in mind mine is lowered 1.5 inches or so.
