  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

are their any common problems I should watch out for?

I'm considering to purchase a used 2013 model, either a base or a premium version. They are very well priced right now.

I want to prepare myself for common problems for this model. It seems like it doesn't really have any major issues like some other manufacturers have. So far it seems like the passenger power seat is a very common problem. Is there anything else I should watch out for ?

can anyone give me some advice with this car. thanks.

I have a 2012 base that I bought new. Only issue I had, and others have said as well, is that my OEM tires were garbage. Mine had sat on the lot for a couple of months and that jacked up the cheap Dunlop tires.

Would not balance at all, vibrations through the steering wheel, and all around not fun since I had it delivered from a dealer an hour away (the driver didn't notice it for some reason).

Other than that, absolutely zero issues through 18,000 miles. I love driving so I drive it pretty hard too.

I have a 2012 Premium. The major issue I had was the nav screen stayed on the Hyundai greeting. The head unit was replaced under warranty. I have also had an intermittent issue with my mirrors not always returning to preset after backing up. I had the main mirror switch replaced. I have had the car for 2 years now and love the look, ride and comfort. You won't go wrong getting one

I honestly do not think so. There are a few folks who will zealously post about oil leak problems in early 2012 V8 engines and "major" problems with the electronics in the Premium & Tech cars. However, I believe that those are not representative of the cars nor something I would classify as a common problem. Forums tend to amplify adverse selection, so it takes a lot more data before we can draw meaningful conclusions.

That said, I would not worry at all about electronics. Test everything out on the drive, and if it works on the lot, it will likely to continue to work. For the V8 oil leak, I would have a shop give the engine a careful look just to be safe, but if they do not find anything, worry not.

Only had my 2013 base for about 6 months. Other than the dunlops being garbage I've had no issues. These cars were built to be large comfy highway cruisers with just a hint of sport suspension to handle the curves well. (for a large car)

The only other issue other than the stock tires being junk that I've found is blind spots. But I was coming from a Yukon with huge side mirrors and could easily see everything going on around me. With the Genesis I have to constantly remember to really look hard before making lane changes or merging on the highway.

FYI I paid 21k for my 2013 base with the certified pre-owned package added in. The car had 27k miles on the odometer and was a former enterprise rental. Normally I would NEVER consider buying a rental but I don't think too many business men and women who would have rented a Genesis were out hot rodding in it and even if they did I have around 70k miles left for powertrain replacement. Other than a couple tiny paint nicks on the bumper the car is showroom new.

There are no big issues that the warranty won't fix if they occur. I have no idea why you mention the power passenger seat as an issue. Perhaps because it doesn't go up and down, but that is a feature, not a defect.

The 2013 is a great car and does not have any common/chronic issues.

I've got a 2013 R-Spec which I bought new in May 2013. I've had one minor issue with the Check Engine Light which was fixed under warranty. Other than that, zero problems. I absolutely love this car - it puts a smile on my face every time I open the door and get in to drive it.

Only issue I've had with my 2013 base is the TPMS light just started to come on intermittently. Often 24 minutes into a ride, or 48, or some other increment of 24. Strange stuff

I have a 2013 base model that was a former rental from Enterprise I bought it from a local Hyundai dealer in my area for $21,000 certified. Been had it since Feb 2014. It had 20,000 miles when I got her. She has 39,000 miles on her now. Frequent trips to Chicago visiting my family. It’s a damn good car to me. I had to have a fuel injector replaced under warranty. And I bought a set of real good tires for her. The OEM Dunlops are pure garbage!! High spots, vibrations, tires roared!! Since the new tires. Very quiet, good riding car.......
