  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi

Thinking about a new G80. Turns out my brother in law used to work there and suggested that the cars have some problems down the road, like 2-3 years and owners have said they probledms re the warrenty - like Hyandai says some reason to void it. Curious if others have had that experience. thanks

The information you provided is not really specific enough to comment on.

That being said, there are always some issues that an owner may complain about, which turn out to be normal (occurs in most or all units), and Hyundai may not have a fix for it, so they will not (and maybe cannot) do anything about it. This might include weird noises at start-up, hesitation during acceleration, etc (these are just examples, not necessarily known problems with a new G80).

Also, they generally require that the dealer be able to reproduce a problem, so some intermittent problems are hard to get warranty service for, unless the problem is very widespread among other units.

Hyundai is really no different than any manufacturer, if you maintain the car within their criteria you should have no problems. The terms are spelled out quite well in their warranty statement. Someone here with access to that could certainly post it up. Here's a link to their warranty sales page, it's not very informative but it can give some insight: http://www.genesisnewsusa.com/us/en...e-customer-programs-for-stress-free-ownership
Be aware that US warranty is not valid in Canada and vice versa. The countries are 2 separate entities and do not recognize each other's warranties.
