  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am absolutely in love with the looks of the '22 G70. I have a '17 Audi A4 that I still love because it is a rocket ship off the line. I know the 3.3t is a beast, but I don't want to go back to a 6. How is the 2.0t to drive? I don't even want to bother with the dealership before I hear real owner feedback. Thanks for any input you can provide.

2.0t is just OK. 3.3T is the way to go. If you want a 4cyl, go Stinger 2.5t.

The existing 2 litre engine (Theta 2) is at the end of its life. If I were you and I'd only want the 4 popper, I'd just hang on to the Audi for another year or so till they put the 2.5 litre in the G70.

Depending on your driving style the 2 ltr could be sufficient. For general driving needs I find it acceptable and the shift paddles for merging, overtaking, and other situations where the power accessibility is necessary meet my needs. I came from a five speed transmission Volvo so that was my standard of comparison. Yours is different.

the 2.0T is fine, and will be enough for most of your needs unless you're a real red-light racer. plus it does a lot better on fuel. but, it is far behind the 3.3T. a JB4 closes the gap a bit but not everyone wants to go that way. the 2.5T would be a great upgrade and i wish that was offered with the 6MT.

the 2.0T has very good midrange. that's where it shines. and that's where we spend most of the time driving so you're able to access the meat of the powerband on a regular basis. but off the line power is not the 2.0T's strong point. since i'm 6MT i can easily select the right gear for best power and acceleration but i still lag off the line just like the 8AT.

for comparison, i did a few pulls of the G70 2.0T against my old G37S (3.7L V6, 330hp) from a rolling start in 2nd gear and the G70 pulled away each time until speeds rose in 4th gear and beyond at which point the G37S walked away due to its HP advantage. this was because the G70 has more torque low down.

Very helpful. Thank you.

The 2.0T is good enough for me, I mostly do city driving and can count on one hand how many times a year I floor it. Think about it like this, the engine as similar HP as the A4, 3 series, C300, etc. Do you tell those owners they need to get an S4, M340i, and C43?

I was hesitant on the 2.0T, so much so that I wouldn't even drive one.

Then, after finding a used G70 with only 300 miles on it (ex-Genesis PGA car) with a great feature set, I drove it. Was I blown away...no. But it was way more than tolerable. (BTW, I had an '18 Stinger GT2 AWD with the 3.3T, so I knew the differences first hand).

After considering 90% of my day to day driving habits, I decided it would work.

I added a Sprint Booster V3 within a week of getting the car and that closed the gap significantly. For day to day, I have the SB set on Sport 7 and this car is nimble and spirited. When I really want to have some fun, I move it to Race 5.

No regrets on the 2.0T!

I bought the 2.0t and regret it every day. I drove the 3.3 for fun while I was at the dealership for something else. My driving is 95% at or below 45mph. Doesn't mean I go that slow, but I'm almost all back roads and city driving. I lose sleep over not getting the 3.3
