  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When the Genesis came out with the TAU there was talk about of a Direct Injected version, 5.0 version, turbo version... Recently BWM, Mini, VW, have all had major recalls around their direct injection systems.... This isn't a rant about other brands... however...

Reading those , I am glad Hyundai didn't deliver Direct Injection early.... I admit I was hoping an updated DI 5.0 version would be available soon (2012) in time for my next upgrade.... If Hyundai delivers,,, I think I will wait an extra year before my next upgrade to see how it works out...

fuel at 35,000 pounds of pressure..... sounds safe to me........

What seems to be the problem with the DI engines?

high pressure fuel pump failures... BMW, VW, Audi, all have reported recalls due to failure in the past year....

DI is the future and all will come shortly. Better fuel economy with increase HP.
Just look at the Sonata- one of 2010's hottest and most popular cars.

I agree it is the future... anyone remember early fuel injection?... sure it is great now... anyone with an 1982 GM pos with crossfire injection didn't think so...

the point is , DI will be great more HP, more TQ and better fuel economy... all why I want DI... but.... first generation DI seems to be a little iffy.....

Diesels have been working with these pressures for years now. The basic technology has been around quite a while. I seldom hear of a diesel pump failure and I certainly have not had problems with my diesels.

Has the Lexus I350 had many DI problems? I'd heard that DI engines have a bit of a "diesel" sound at idle, but it's not something I've got any experience with to know.

DI is a great idea. it can allow for very high compression and can control detonation with spar and fuel injection, much like a modern diesel does. The down side seems to be the reliability of the pumps which im sure will be rectified very soon. There are significant gains to be had; more power per cui/ltr better emissions control, more power, did i mention more power? If I failed to mention more power allow me to mention it now, more power. also the ability to really tune the car especially with forced induction 8>)

Totally agree...... but seems to me the bugs are still being worked out on this..

DI on diesel isn't the same as DI on a gas engine..... I just think waiting a generation would help
