  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I remember a while back hearing that Hyundai was considering expanding the model lineup. Does anyone know anything about possible plans to offer a crossover SUV once the AWD becomes available?

Should I assume you mean a "Genesis" style SUV/crossover? Hyundai currently offers the Tucsan, Sante Fe, and Veracruz

A compact RWD sedan and one CUV is in the works.

Not word yet if the entry level sedan will offer AWD at the start (or if Hyundai will add that later) or what size the CUV will be and whether it will be FWD-biased or built on the Genesis platform (I'm hoping for a RWD/AWD CUV).

There was talk that the Veracruz was going to disappear in favor of a LWB Santa Fe, but nothing set in stone yet.

Kia had the K9 sedan in its final phases of development and initially the word was that they were going to do a sports coupe that was smaller than the Genesis Coupe and powered only by i4 powerplants, but What Car just reported that a V8 powered coupe concept will debut later this year at the Frankfurt show.

Kia is also working on a roadster but no word whether it will be FWD or RWD.

Yes. I currently drive a Genesis 3.8 and my second vehicle is a 2010 Tucson. I'd like to replace the Tucson in the future with a Genesis cross over if one is offered.

Hyundai had a great start out of the gates with the Genesis brand but hasn't done much with the Genesis line since. One almost wonders if Genesis will fall back into the fold of Hyundai since the Hyundai brand has risen so much over the past few years.

According to John Krafcik (President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America), the main purpose of offering the Genesis (and Equus) in the US under the Hyundai brand (instead of their own brand like in Korea) is to build up the reputation of the Hyundai brand in the USA. "Build the Brand" is the HMA mantra.

If the Hyundai brand ever got close to Toyota and Honda (for example, if 90% of Camry/Accord shoppers also would even consider a Hyundai to the point of a test drive of a Sonata, etc), then that actually might be the best time to spin off the Genesis and Equus into a separate brand in the US (but still sold by Hyundai dealers, sort of like the way some Ford dealers sell Lincoln branded cars). Then people in the USA wouldn’t have to rebadge the Genesis.
