  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I noticed the other day that my driver side low beam is higher than my passenger low beam?

Does anybody know how to raise or lower the low beams without taking the car into the dealership?

If someone has pics that would be great as well.

Thx

Basic headlamp assemblies or Tech package "AFLS" headlights?

For the basic (non-AFLS) assemblies, the adjustment requires a long screwdriver. From directly above, look straight down on the assembly. The adjustment is near the bottom of the assembly... with an upper guide part for your screwdriver. These parts are located about dead-center in the left-to-right sense, next to the large portion that pokes backwards from the assembly. You can sign up with www.hmaservice.com and view the factory service manual diagrams: chapter 13 has the body electrical stuff. For 2009 manuals, it's page 893 of 1180... it'll probably be in the same general area for other model year manuals.

AFLS: if they're out of alignment, it could be a simple adjustment (calibration) or indicative of a part failure... let the warranty do its job.

Thanks Mike for the information!

Maybe I should just take it in to the dealership and have them adjust it?

By chance do you know how long the screwdriver has to be to reach the adjustment screw? And if it's a phillips or a flat head?

Thx,
Gabe

Don't know answers to either of your questions; I just remembered seeing the diagrams in the service manual. The adjustment point is pretty much at the bottom of the headlamp assembly so the screwdriver shank needs to be at least as tall as the headlight module.

Philips #2 about 8" long will do.

While you're at it, raise both beams about the width of a piece of tape when shone on a wall about four feet away from the bumper. You will love the increased visibility and will not blind any oncoming cars.

The beams are set too low from the factory.

I wouldn't raise mine. I'm getting flashed all the time when I have my dims on. I took it to the dealer and the adjustment was correct. I have a 2009 3.8 Prem Plus .

I agree, I get flashed alot when driving at night so I think the low beams are aimed maybe a bit high on the Genny..still love the car though :)

Philips #2 about 8" long will do.

Update:

Well it took me a little while to go get a Philips #2 8" long screwdriver. When I tried to adjust it today the screwdriver was too thick to put in the guide hole leading down to the adjustment. What I did was just force it down there it was a tight fit but I forced it to the bottom and could not seem to catch anything at the bottom that would let me adjust the low beam?

What am I doing wrong here? Or do I need to get a #1 screwdriver 8" long? Does that # refer to how thick the screwdriver is? Are we sure it's a Philips and not a flathead as well?

Thx for the feedback

Yesterday I went out and tried to use the #2 Phillips head screwdriver and it's still a no go?

I shined a flashlight down the guide hole and from what I could tell it doesn't look like a Phillips head opening?

If it's not that what else could it be?

It should be the Phillips head, although the adjustment head could be star patterned as well which would explain why it doesn't look correct. I also adjusted my lights up a bit - they are too low from the factory and people flash their lights at HIDs anyway, so at least I can see better at night.
