  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everybody, first of all I would like to introduce myself on this great forum. I have been researching the net on this car and stumbled onto this forum and it’s really great. I had to register to view a few pictures but it’s been worth it, the information I found here is great.
I have been given a dealer quote for a 2011 Genesis sedan (3.8) with the NAV PREM package but not the Tech. I really like the DIS knob but can’t see to find picture of the genesis with this configuration. Does anyone have a link to their car here on the board or can you post up?
Finally, not sure if I should get the 3.8 with the nav premium package or just the 3.8 tech. Has anyone else looked at both these packages that can share any insight?

I went to the dealership on Sat and no one helped me out so after looking at the cars myself from outside and not finding a non tech package I went online to get a quote, hence why I couldn’t see the interior in person without the tech. seems Hyundai press materials all have the tech package in their photos.

Appreciate all the help and great board…
Thank you in advance.

ced,

I just took delivery on a 2011 3.8 Premium Nav -- noticed your post in October has gone unanswered. After the difficulty I had in locating one (5 weeks from signing purchase contract to delivery), it may be that there just aren't that many on this site who have one! You may have already made a decision or even purchased your car, but thought I'd try to give you some info, as others on this site were very helpful to me in making my decision.

Here are pix of the interior/dash (sorry for quality, but taken with my cell phone). I think you just need to decide what you want. For me, this set-up is perfect. I was looking for better gas mileage, but wanted everything on it, so I started my search with the 3.8 Tech Package. After several test drives (I researched this for over 6 months), I decided that I got everything I needed with the Premium/Nav. I didn't feel I sacrificed anything in the sound system and I preferred the cup holder convenience (one of those "little" things that become "big" things) without the DIS knob. I, like you, though, think that's pretty cool looking; and it was tough deciding not to get the Tech, because I like to have everything you can get on a car. But I really don't lose anything functionally with the touch screen in the Prem/Nav. I had also read that some were having difficulty with the Bluetooth function on the Tech package (that may have been resolved).

The biggest "sacrifice" by going with the Prem/Nav was not getting the cooled driver seat -- and that's pretty big in the South (I'm in Charlotte). But in my reading, it seems that you don't really get the benefit from that unless your drive is over 15 minutes. In my case, the long drive of the day is morning when I'd least need it and the "hot" drives are usually the short errands. I'm sure you'll find some that will disagree with this, and I'm only passing on what I've read, not experienced.

And there IS a notable difference in the power drop from the 4.6 to the 3.8 -- but I guess I need to grow up now that I'm over 50! Really, though, the 3.8 delivers PLENTY of acceleration, but I have to admit that pushing the 4.6 is fun.

I've driven BMW's for years (my last a 740iL), and I have to say I'm just as excited to have this car. Good luck in your search (if you haven't already finished!).

CLTCMB, thank you very much, I appreciate the help in posting a reply, I did so much research on this site even though I didn't find much in what exactly I was looking for.

In the end though I got lucky and a nearby dealer had the package and traded with my dealer but not the color I wanted (Black) so I just went ahead with it as the car was amazing and I was getting a good deal on the price. A nice shiny Platinum Metallic 2011 3.8 with Nav/Prem. purchased it sight unseen and got delivery the next day.

Reading your post made me realize I was thinking the same thing when debating getting the "tech" and sometimes I miss the V8 but I still have my 02 Camaro SS so I'm not worried about it.

thanks again.

Glad you're happy with the purchase -- I can say I've been really happy. I've never gotten so much value in a car for the price. My Lexus and Mercedes neighbors have been reluctantly impressed!

I broke down last week and, at the urging of my 16 year old son, ordered the wings and rebadged the car myself ($26 vs $250+ at the dealership). Amazingly easy to do. I have to admit that it really dresses up the car.

And I haven't missed the DIS knob yet...

Looking at the best place to grab the emblems from. Where do you suggest? Thanks!

I went on Ebay and had several choices -- make sure you get MOBIS parts (Hyundai original factory) and note that there's a difference in the sedan and coupe versions. The places I ordered from had pictures of the parts in the MOBIS packaging -- I felt most comfortable with those. They were delivered in the packaging exactly as shown.

I also just got the wheel caps in the same manner last week. Both the badges and the caps are really easy to replace.

Here are some pics of my 2012 Premium Package V6 with Black interior. For 2012 its a base, premium (which includes nav), or tech. Only 3 options now.

Just FYI here, I have been getting 30+ MPG on Highway/Interstate trips 70 - 80 MPH. If money is not a big concern go for the tech package, you obviously get more. The premium package gives you quite a good bang for the buck.
