  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A search for ESC yields no responses since the search term is too short. This morning after driving the car (3.8) for a few minutes and shutting it off to run an errand, it took much longer than normal to restart after pressing the start button, probably 4-5 seconds of turning over before it fired. Once it fired, I noticed the ESC light was illuminated. Drove it down the road, shut off the car for a minute, turned it back on, no light, everything seemingly fine. Go figure.

Thanks. No direct comps to my situation. I did not get the transmission lock-up. Guess I'll just keep an eye on it for the time being.

Funny, I had the transmission lock-up happen to me last night after 6 days of ownership.
I was parked in front of my garage reading the manual trying to program the Homelink.
After several minutes of attempts to program the darn thing, I decided to do it later and noticed the ESC light on the dash.
Instant ignition off/on fixed it as expected.

After the first 5 months of ownership I had an erratic ESC function. It would go on and off at random. A couple of times I noticed that the speedometer would jump up even though I was stopped at a light. When I took it in for service they told me that it was a cracked speed sensor. Painless fix and a year later and I have not had a problem since. I attribute to cracked sensor due to hitting some really bad potholes in the roads at the time.
