If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ran my 2011 at the track the other day for shits and gigs and surprisingly ran a 14.9 with my girlfriend in the car and a trunk full of her junk. Needless to say the speed bug bit me and I'd like to run mid 13's while still having my quiet exhaust and keeping it mostly stock. I'm thinking a 75 shot from a wet system would do the trick but I don't know what kind of problems I may run into since I can't find anyone that has done it before. Anyone have any input?

That's the problem with nitrous, there has to be that one guy that sprays too much to find out where the limit is, at the cost of an engine.

A 50 shot would probably be a safer bet.

Were you running all-season tires?

wet or dry, 50 seems conservative. Anyone in the JDM crowd will tell you 75 is the magic number for 1.8-2.2 litres, I ran a venom dry 75 on my F22b2 for almost three years (more bottle fills than I can remember) with no ill effects before I put the built motor in. In fact, at the very end (before the Benson block) I had a cheapy turbo kit set at 7# (on the stock motor) and was still running the 75 in progressive mode. It's an expensive habit to be sure.

My only thought/point here is that at 4.6 liters I would think that motor could easily cope with a dry (or wet if you really wanna plumb it) 75 shot. That being said, I am not nearly as familiar with Hyundai's management software like I am with Honda, so maybe I'm talking out my ass.

I was just thinking this. every nitrous manufacturer will tell u a 100 wet shot is safe with no tune ....more then thst u will need a tune.... fuel pump need to hand the load of thr hit....I might be the guy to test this out...no after market parts for my 15 , and I have a extra kit laying around

Do it!

I've been kicking around the idea of a 100 shot being the next mod. Wet and on a window switch.

The car should be able to run mid-13's without nitrous. Less weight +plus good air. A 75 shot should give you high 12's if you can launch.

Someone needs to do this as a proof of concept so that I can jump on board once you guys sorted all the issues out :)

I'm working on it.... Just got the car back from service.... I'm going to start with a 55 shot.... See how the fuel pressure looks on the spike.... If all good then 75.... Then 100 pedal activated the problem is I want it extra clean and 100 % out of date buttons in all....... Just remove Bottle and nozzle when I take it to service.... I'm sure that will void my warranty lol.... Bastards 😀... Any one know what fuel pump is in this car. And fuel pressure? I read gdi is in the 2000 psi range.... That can't be right....

GDI is right around the 1500 - 2000 PSI range. I can actually get you the exact number in about 3 days if you'd like me to. My buddy works for the manufacturer of those pumps. To give you an idea of how much pressure they put out, he calls them the "hi-pressure pump" because your low pressure pump is in the fuel tank...

Update: I did end up running into my buddy tonight. The high pressure fuel pump sits on top of the block (generically) and operates at a max 150 bar or 2200 PSI.

Wow... After doing more homework im even more lost ... fuel rail injection set up is under the intake?....wtf.... its like they dont want us to have fun in ours cars ...maybe ill go dry ... something is better then nothing. ?.. tapin right in front on the mas air with a after market rubber boot

Fuel rail is under the intake manifold? That's a pain.

I find it thoroughly SHOCKING that a manufacturer doesn't want someone tampering with the fuel system on their vehicles...

lol, especially one that offers a 10 year warranty.

Hyundai is know in the tuning world as being difficult to work on. You'll either have to be satisfied with a few bolt ons or LS swap it :-)

If you wanted to heavily modify your car I think you purchased the wrong brand.

I think we'll see the options open up over time as they already have. Other Hyundai models have good tuning options and even the Sonata, Santa Fe, Tiburon, Genesis Coupe, etc have aftermarket ECU tunes available.

As stated my first hyundai also my first gdi... fuel pressure is crazy hi ....I might leave this one alone I dont know enough about these cars to mess with it .... and blowing up a 15k+ engine is not on my to do list

How else do you get a GDI? You have to inject the fuel directly into the cylinders lol

GDI is specific to the 5.0 right? I'm assuming the fuel rail arrangement is simpler with the MPI 4.6.

The 3.8 2012+ also has the GDI. On the 4.6 it is exactly how your would expect a fuel rail to look lol
