  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm getting my car done with llumar ctx on tues with blue 80 up front. Was thinking about just doing a 30 on the roof. Curious what others have done.

Tinting sunroofs is extremely difficult. The heat alone from the process causes many to shatter. Additionally the glass is already darkly tinted so there would not be much benefit.

I had considered doing this on one of my Infinitis, but I was strongly advises against it.
Supposedly, there was a significant risk of shattering. I skipped the idea.

I thought that myth went away years ago. From a physics standpoint, it is utterly ridiculous. That aside, I was just curious more along the lines of what level of tint folks had gotten. TX has serious sun, but this is the first car I have had where there is already a tint present, so the combination factor is my concern. I had 5% on one of my VWs...too dark, defeats the purpose of having a sunroof. Had 30% on one of my hondas, seemed to light to me. The previous owner of my Volvo had the sunroof tinted, but I have no idea the brand or percentage :( and it would have been more than a decade ago, so it has likely faded (making the assumption it was a cheaper dye based film).

I had mine tinted with 18% nano hybrid carbon tint at the same time I had the rest of the car done. I wanted to be able to drive with the sunroof cover open even during high noon so my passengers can look out the top of the car. Plus I like the heat rejection the nano hybrid carbon tints offer. The 18% combined with the stock tint made for a perfect combination, to me and the wife at least.

Not tinting but will put on the same near-clear llumar film that I'll be putting on the windshield for heat-reduction purposes when I photosync the rest. Having that done the week after next.

Well, it is gorgeous, if you are in central tx, I highly recommend my guy, absolutely flawless, an im soooooooo glad I did 15 on the sunroof, 30 would have def been too light, 15 is goldilocks for sure, will post pics when we get some full sun

Yeah I put 18. Definitely goldilocks

Please post pics. You are the only member here who knows about photosync.

You have no idea what I do know and don't know so please don't pretend you know me and what is inside my head. I'm just not interested in tint that changes colors. I like my privacy regardless of how sunny it is outside. Winter/spring/summer/fall I'd rather people not look into my car.
