If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a stealth cord and V1 mounted on the right side of my rear view mirror. I got the longest cord they had.... maybe 12" and it just fits... it is snug right up against the mirror mounted just below the tint strip.

I used the power from the automatic windshield wipers.... because the harness was closer to the right side. If I used the rear view mirror power, I wouldn't have had enough space.

I love my V1!

This is what I bought.... http://cgi.ebay.com/VALENTINE-ONE-1...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41415c5aeb

Ash,

Thank you.

Looks like that site is out of business, near as I can tell.

I have been looking around some yesterday and have found a number of sites with MB, BMW and the like, rear view mirror mods. Haven't found one yet that seems to show sending in your own mirror to mod.

I may just get another mirror and take it apart.

Sorry about that. www.radardetector.net

I think you can send in your mirror for mod.. I don't know the company that does it though... I think they might actually fit the Valentine Concealed Display inside...

Hey Ashdump: How do you access the windshield sensor power? Does the plastic cover just snap off with a good pull or is there a secret way to remove it. I have order the Stealth yesterday, and I am going to get the power the same place you got it. Any tips would be appreciated. The mirror looks pretty well sealed, not like they show on the website, so the sensor looks to be the best location to get the power from.

Thanks for any help

Getting at the mirror power is quite easy, that's what I used with my stealth cord. There's a snap-on plastic cover on the part of the mirror that's against the windshield. Pop that off and you'll see the plug-in wiring harness that you can jack the stealth cord into. The solid pink cable is the one you want for power to be switched with ignition.

I used an 8" stealth cord and it was a bit short, I just barely made it work. I would recommend a 12" cord. My V1 is mounted using a bracket that hangs from the mirror. The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is that due to the angle of the mirror post, the V1 isn't pointed straight ahead, but rather just slightly to the right. Ideally the bracket would have some side-to-side adjustment, but it doesn't.

Just an FYI, I ran a telephone cord to an add-a-line fuse on the passenger's side fuse box. You can tuck the cord in the headliner for a super-cheap "stealth-cord". Then, all you need is the bracket.

The plastic covers should come right off.... I don't remember the color of the wires, but the first time around I didn't get it right. I had the ground wire right, but the power was on constantly. I had to find a different... maybe it was pink. I used the harness from the windshield wipers because it gave me an extra couple of inches...

I don't mind the blendmount http://www.blendmount.com/ but it really isn't that "Stealth". I have my V1 mounted up high and the sensors are just below the tint strip. Works out pissa!

Here's a video I made with my Canon HG21... I made it a while ago testing out the night functions and software editing. You can see where my V1 is mounted.... http://www.vimeo.com/9093353

Re: Any help to install via telephone wire please

I am planning on using the telephone cord from my left hand side fuse box. Could I please ask you which terminal you used and how you went about doing it. Do you sandwhich the beared wire on a fuse and simply push it into place. Was it a 10 amp terminal? Did you soldier it onto the fuse?

I would appreciate any help I can get. I have the stealth end but it was to hard to get the wire into place for a good contact, it kept coming out of place and the wire was so short when ever I pulled a bit on it, it would loose it contact.

Thanks for any Help
Kevin
