  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have any idea how to permanently dismiss that message?

Really annoying to have to dismiss it everytime I start the car.

Nope

I know it's a pain the arse, but you really should consider yourself lucky that the system is as flexible as it is.

Next time you get annoyed by the .5 seconds it takes to push that button, go drive another brand's car that won't allow you to do anything while the car is in motion. Start with Land Rover/Jaguar, their's are the most terrible.

I believe these two things are related. With a handheld GPS, the mfg makes you dismiss the screen every time because they have no control over how you use the device and in a litigious world, would be held liable if someone crashed using it and then claimed that the mfg failed to warn them that it was dangerous to use while driving. Seems that maybe the same philosophy is being applied in the car mounted units. Full Functionality while driving means the reminder must be consciously acknowledged at each start to limit mfg liability. If they choose to lock out certain functions while driving, then the dismissal is not required because they have specifically limited their liability in this way...

What I have not been able to determine is if this GPS/Auto industry "self" regulation to cover their own back sides, or if there is some NHTSA or other government law or rule that drives this.

Just my 2 cents...

It would be nice if we could see the radio channel on the full screen at start up. I understand the warning display is only required when you want to use the NAV.

I am very pleased the Genesis allows us to enter voice NAV commands while the car is moving. Some car manufacturers don't allow voice NAV while the car is in motion.

I have a 2011 3.8 Premium + Nav.

I can access all of the radio functions without acknowledging the warning screen by pressing any of the XM/AM/FM/AUX buttons. If the radio function was displayed prior to the car being shutoff then the warning screen does not show at startup until you hit the NAV button.

Ironically, this is actually a potential hazard/liability since it forces the touchscreen user to touch the screen while driving to acknowledge the warning not to touch the screen while driving...

Maybe the Tech pkg is different? I know you dismiss it with the DIS Knob...

4.6's dont have touch screens. It's all knobs and buttons.

Thanks...See above......I am well aware that the Tech Pkg cars (4.6 or 3.8) have the DIS knob and it is used to dismiss the warning screen as well as most other features of the system...

My post was to highlight that you CAN access the radio functions without dismissing the warning screen on the Premium Package Touchscreen Nav cars. Since LA Genesis indicated not being able to see the radio screen without dismissing the warning on his/her tech pkg car, I thought it might be interesting to note the difference in operation between the two...
