Fellow Genesis Owners,

After reading through random forums possessed by spam bots to information on simple subjects buried down a rabbit trail far from the threads original topic, I thought it'd be nice to start an organized archive to keep things simple for those curious about the basics...

I've always been intrigued to know what other fellow owners use, prefer and why.., ie... we all have our quirks and rituals so to speak.

One of mine has always been to stick with using the same brand of engine oil and transmission fluid without mixing it up.

Comments:

I've been a long time Amsoil user mainly due to having data from my own samples that I've sent in to get tested from my days at the track, long long ago.

Oil filter wise (Wix), from the tear downs and material quality it stands pretty strong at the top of the mainstream food chain, although a few other brands have upped their game in recent years.

K&N products have always served me well... I like being able to clean->reuse it over buying filters frequently due to how dusty it can get around my area.

I like cabin air filters that are carbon / baking soda based and prefer being able to toss them when they get dirty, although I may give the reusable K&N ones a try... I'm just not sure how well it will do with exhaust odor/fumes since it's not carbon based.

When it comes to cleaning products, I flew only with Meguiars airlines up until recently as there are a lot of great performing products nowadays.

[Q:]

Does anyone use those magnetic drain bolts by any chance? It has been years since I've seen one...

Any thoughts on using a clear 3M vinyl to protect the front sensor? Do you think the vinyl would effect the function of the radar sensors?

As a long time Wix Oil Filter user, the K&N looks pretty promising. (#HP-7035 and SP-7035) The HP is the high flow filter and the SP is the regular filter; what seems to be like the Wix regular vs the Wix XP going here... The high flowing filters have larger holes = filters less, which is why I've stuck with using just the regular Wix as it provides better filtration. I wonder if the same concept applies here with the K&N HP vs their SP oil filter. Hmm Thoughts?
