Are Pageloads a Lot Slower for Anyone Else?

Is it just me, or is anyone else noticing that page loads are taking a lot longer recently? I am not seeing it every time, but it most often occurs when clicking into an individual forum from the main forums page. It is happening from multiple devices and networks, so I do not think it is related to my browser or network. It quickly renders the top portion of the page, but then it seems stuck loading ad, googlesyndication, and cookie stuff for a while before it displays the list of threads.

It happens if any of those advertisement servers (like googlesyndication) are down, or there is network issue between genesisowners.com and those servers.
What you can do is to implement HOSTS file on your PC. I did, and I don't see any ads on this site and don't have any slowdowns.

You can implement HOST file on Android device, but it has to be rooted.

It's a horrible dilemma. Sites like this rely on ad revenue to function. But so many of the advertisers are unscrupulous with what they display. You are putting your computer's safety in the hands of folks who willingly do things like auto-start video, go through hoops to launch pop-up ads (circumventing in many cases the built in protection), and will sell ad space to the highest bidder, which in the past (and probably in the present) has been used to distribute malware. I've taken to blocking the sites which do crappy stuff at my firewall, so once a site does something crappy I block their entire domain so that none of my household machines or browsers will go to that site anymore. It's unfortunate that I have to do that, but if advertisers would start showing some scruples, then I wouldn't have to.

In the meantime, I try to donate when possible, though the second and last time I donated on this site I never received the updated sig.

This forum seems to have every possible vBulletin ad option enabled. I have never seen more hyperlinks, banners, pop ups, inline ads, etc. on any other forum. It should be minting money, in comparison to others.

I for one appreciate Sal's efforts and the volunteers who support him and these boards.

There are far worse sites out there with ad spam and pop ups. And if Sal needs this level of advertising to keep the site afloat, then bring it on.
