Audio Connection - Fuzzy when playing music from phone

I tried to have the dealer look into this this week and they said I need to pay $300 for them to update carplay?

About 30-50% of the time, when I plug my phone into the usb, music comes through fuzzy and broken from phone. I unplug and plug back in and usually it works the 2nd time or 3rd time, but seems like a software issue and the dealer's response was wild to me that they coudnt do any easier update? Anyone have this issue? I searched and didnt find any similar problems. Happens with different cables and I have the wireless charging turned off.

Try a thicker, higher quality and SHORTER cable. If not albeit Im not as familiar with Apple, you may just need to find a way to force the device to stream at a lower bandwidth. (maybe carplay does 16bit/44kHz?) That is normally the old standard, and newer software update may allow for higher bandwidth that either the infotainment system or device cannot handle properly.
