  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Austin Genesis Service Is Terrible !!

@EdP weird. Don't think I've ever seen that in Texas. You see stable mates, Maserati and Alfa, or Jeep and Dodge, but never rival brands.

I don't know the history of them There are some dealers that go back decades and in small towns they often did some odd things. I wonder how much they actually compete. Years ago, there were Ford families and Chevy families and no way would they buy the other brand even if they sat side by side in the showroom.

There are some dealers that look for a quick buck. Had my wife take in my 16 genesis because there has been a clunk in seat going around turns(tsb on it). Automax in Killeen, tx. Car has 36k on clock and they tried to tell her front and rear brake pads an rotors were shot and tried to give her a quote to fix of $1200

Do they really think women are that stupid?

Also they said they will cover the seat under warranty. But I have had two Automax dealers in other states call me and try to buy my genesis because the pictures the dealer took shows it’s a car in great shape. I did not tell them they could take pictures or I even thought about selling it.

OK. I see three things here so lets take them in order.

At 36k and a lot of city driving the brakes could be about shot. When I live in Philadelphia that would be a lot of miles for brakes. They should give you a measurement of the actual pad left. Last quote I saw for brakes was $400 per axle but had the fronts done for $300. . Last car I did front at about 40k, don't recall exactly, rear were still good when I traded at 48k

Yes, some dealers think women are that stupid. So do many other auto shops. They are ready if 1950 comes back again. I'm told they can even vote now.

Never heard of a dealer taking photos, but most/many dealers will ask if you want to consider a trade. I upgraded a Sonata when it was in for service. I know others that have been approached an a friend sold his Mercedes while it was on the lift. Look up "car salesman" in the dictionary and you will see photos of leeches, vampire bats, and other blood sucking animals.

Your right the front brakes could be on their downhill side. I will check them when I get her back and will do the job myself with quality parts.
