  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

According to the documentation my 2015 Genesis should brake automatically if a car stops in front of me that could cause an accident. I have had my car for 5 weeks and tailgated other vehicles to test the feature but so far no joy. Does anyone know of a way to test this feature ? And yes I have checked the box in the setup screen. Thanks for any help

To be clear I am talking about the AEB feature which should kick in if you are going Easter than 5 mph and slower than 50 mph

It works and it saved me on my first trip home from the dealer. I believe it only works if you keep your foot off the brake. If you brake, it seems to turn control over to you. In every case, it has alarmed and began to stop the car before I could get my foot on the brake.

I have to agree that it is pretty hard not to brake in order to test it. I have had it alarm three times so far in dense traffic just before I could get on the brake.

I was happy to see you meant automatic "braking" and not automatic "breaking" as in the thread title as the latter would not be something to look forward to on my new Genesis ;)

I've had the red car icon flash in the HUD and the audible alarm sound a few times, but have not had the auto brakes have to actually kick in yet.

The feature definitely works, but is hard to demonstrate. I think it works more on the rate of closure to the vehicle in front rather than a given distance. If the distance suddenly decreases and there is no action by the driver, the system will brake automatically.

On a related subject, this is a cool ad for the 2015 Safety Systems posted by Hyundai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPTIXldrq3Q&list=UU5f97D60yHa7UE9rFfbej8g

Salesman demonstrated this for me at delivery by driving at a concrete wall. Yep it worked and I took delivery of the car.

I think that it would be neat if a dealer would have a non-destructive target to demonstrate this feature such as a plastic banner with a foil target for the radar. It is a lot easier to purposely drive into something like that than to drive into a destructive object.

It took a while before I could trust the radar cruise control to safely stop me with a real car in front of me. I have no worries now, but my foot would automatically hit the brake at first.

Wow! It’s a good thing it didn’t go like the Volvo video demonstration. I understand the excuse for that was the car was left in something called “City Mode”. I don’t imagine that would gone well on the IIHS test. I’m glad there’s no such setting on the Genesis.

Wallace Volvo in Stuart Florida will put you in a Volvo and drive towards a Barricade and let the car stop itself. Must now have to prove it before they can sell it. :D
