  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had a 2015 3.8 AWD Ultimate for almost three months. One thing I never got to try (for obvious reasons) was the Automatic Emergency Braking system. Today I was driving on the highway at about 65MPH and had auto-cruise set. Traffic was moving just fine, but someone made a quick maneuver and caused a braking domino effect. The car started to slow automatically, but then someone cut me off and then "Warning!" flashed in the hud along with a audible alert. I was almost sure I was going to hit the car in front of me and then the AEB kicked in and stopped the car on a dime. The tires screeched a bit (just like you see in the videos) but it worked well. The system helped me to avoid a crash and it was pretty awesome!

I was negotiating a tight turn at an intersection.

A car cut in front of me - bad enough.

Then a suicidal bicyclist actually cut between my genny and the car in front.

My Genesis went crazy with the braking and alarms - happened too fast to accurately describe. But, the system did work.

I have had several instances where the AEB kicked in and worked fine. Now I don't use the cruise control when driving in the Metroplex because so many drivers fail to exercise caution nor do they allow safe distances when changing lanes.

AEB saved me on my first drive home from the dealer. A stake truck in front of me on a freeway ramp at merging speed either missed a shift or his transmission locked up. He was sliding sideways with smoke pouring from his tires. My car had the brakes on hard before I could possibly react.

Glad that it worked, and saved you from an accident!

The furthest I got to AEB kicking in was when the warning and audible alert went off, but I had already started to brake pretty hard.

Sounds like a very awesome function. Thanks for sharing. :)

Good to know, now just hope I never find out if mine works.

Come up to Northern VA for a drive sometime.

People around here are famous for their last minute lane changes (sometimes across 3 or 4 lanes) and their sudden U-turns.

Great place for finding out if the AEB braking system and the blind spot warning systems work. Mine do.
