Everything about this near Mercedes-Benz S-class-size cruiser shouts luxury: the styling mimics a Mercedes from several angles, the interior is fitted with four seats from a luxury jet, and the powertrain is more than ample and very refined (and it will only get better when the 2012 arrives with a 5.0-liter engine and eight-speed automatic). The ride can be a tad taut on some surfaces, but overall, it's smooth sailing. I found that the sport mode seemed to make the car a little too hyper, while normal mode was underwhelming in terms of handling. The car could use a “just right” setting.

However, after a night in this Equus, this bargain isn't quite as drastic to me anymore. There are things such as drive character and cabin experience that aren't on the standard features list. Before I go any further, I do want to say that the Equus does have all the basics. The drivetrain is strong with consistent punch from the V8 throughout the revs and the gearbox performs smooth shifts. The cabin stays quiet rolling down the expressway with only the slightest bit of tire noise detectable from behind the wheel and it is fairly comfortable.
