  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know what the AWD power distribution is in the various drive modes?

I have a 5.0 Ultimate AWD and with the recent snow dumps, I've been playing with the various drive modes. I found sport mode actually worked best for me overall in the snow. Eco mode, the rear tends to slide out more. Normal mode is a little better in terms of traction but sport mode is surprisingly good. Does the AWD send more power to the front in sport mode? I've only used snow mode for when I really get stuck because the pedal is too unresponsive for driving.

Great car in the snow, I've been destroying unplowed hills with DWS 06 tires. I've found that unlike previous cars I've owned, don't feather the throttle to prevent slipping... give it steady throttle and let the traction control do all the work and don't stop. Knock on wood, I haven't been stuck to the point I need to get out and dig.

It's been a while since I read the manual for the actual Mode differences, but from memory they are as follows:
Normal: Nominal 50:50 front to rear with automatic variation of up to 80:20 in either direction.
Eco: As for Normal but with less responsive throttle and gearbox mapping to engage highest gear possible as soon as possible.
Sport: Nominal 10:90 Front to Rear traction varying as required, faster throttle response, heavier steering feel, only engages gears 7 & 8 after extended 'cruise' at constant throttle.
Snow: Fixed 50:50 traction below 30mph (?), slower throttle response (dangerously slow in my opinion), starts in 2nd gear by default.
