  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Went to my local dealers to check out the newly arrived sedans but all except an R-Spec had a black interior which we don't like because of showing dust so bad and living in N. Texas. They talked me in to testing an Azera and I was impressed with the handling and features. The area around the Nav screen is very busy and would take time to learn, there was no hesitation downshifting, plenty of power, and a lip hanging over the Nav screen so it can be read between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. when the suns out. I opted out because I still love the Genesis, there are no incentives on this newly released car, there is no frontal warning device when parking, and they jacked up the price $400 for tinted glass and nitrogen in the tires. Hey, the air we breath is 78% nitrogen! Still the Azera was a very nice car.

Do you mean the 2013 Genesis sedans just arrived there?

The interior of the Azera is nicer than the Genesis

They got 4 2012's on Friday and the R-Spec was already on the showroom floor.

not to mention buying ANY car in its first model year! yikes!

I've done it twice: Saab 9000 (horrible experience) and Infiniti G35 (great experience). In both cases, I really needed a new car and couldn't wait.

I've done it three times- an '82 Corrolla Hatchback, a '98 Accord, and my '06 Sonata. No regrets in any case. I honestly think our concerns about a first-year models are overly exaggerated. Every year brings some changes to every brand's models, whether major or simply cosmetic. But the thing is every new generation of cars uses and builds upon the success and failures of the previous years. So unless a design team is totally off the mark, an entirely new model should always be at least as good as the previoous year's.

The new Azera might as well be an entirely new model...as with any of the NEW Hyundai's 2010ish+ that is. The Azera is really the only Hyundai not to be re-done by Hyundai in its Genesis (new beginning), the Santa Fe kind of gets a pass..but not really, I'd much rather buy the '13 which is the real "new" Santa Fe.

Read about it here:

I bought a new 2007 Azera Limited, the first year they came out, and only had one issue in 45,000 miles. One of the bolts holding the air intake assembly had somehow disappeared but the dealer replaced it immediately. I loved that car.... but I loved the Genesis even more!

The "new" Hyundai started w/ the YF Sonata and w/ the new Azera and SF, this generation of Hyundai's US lineup is complete.

I'd place the Genesis and Equus as being part of "old Hyundai" as they were developed for the Korean market and the designs show Hyundai's old conservative approach.

Rogerf: Jerry's in Weatherford Has some Genesis with Cashmier interior. I am like you I don't like the black interior. I bought a 2012 Genesis - white with cashmier. I bought a Azera for my grand-daughter, looked everywhere for a white with camel. I finally had to settle for a white with black.

It is very well done, did anyone notice the size/shape of the trunk as well?

I went to my local dealership lot Sunday evening (best time to go -No Salesmen!) and "met" the new Azera. Very impressive interior -the superior quality of switches and controls is obvious; layout seems well thought. I really hope the 2013 Gen gains some cabin tweaks queued from the Azera, but I won't get my hopes too high. With that said, I have to say I honestly don't care for the new "fluidic" styling Hyundai has adopted for their cars. Maybe it's just me, but I had to look back/forth several time to identify the specific distinctions between an Azera and the Sonata -OOPS!

When the G2 Genesis does finally arrive next year, I hope Hyundai keeps a more conservative styling; one of these was enough for the world...

Would the second version of the Genesis be called "Exodus"?

It WILL be Hyundai's Exodus if their fluidic design concepts cause it to look anything like that Di Dia 150!

While the Sonata and Azera share the same design language, they are pretty distinct from each other.

According to those who have seen it, the 2G Gen keeps its more European styling.

Going forward, Hyundai, however, will keep, but fine-tune the "fluidic sculpture" design language for its mainstream lineup.

When it comes the 2G Genesis Coupe, I certainly hope it loses the "fishmouth" w/ it (and the new compact sedan variant) getting more of a European design (they can't get it wrong since Kia has the gorgeous GT to take to production).

Well, It's obvious they're siblings for sure!

Let's see, I think the Azera's the one that's moving....

Yes, these are two reasons why I love the more sophisticated look of the Genesis. I followed an Azera recently. Rear reminds of a Dodge Dart.
