  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue. Whenever I take my Genny into the dealer in San Antonio, every part I need has to be backordered from Korea. Doesn't matter if it's the EPB module (2+ weeks), Windshield (2+ weeks) or now a power window motor (2+ weeks) - second time it's being replaced. Dealer says they do a nationwide search and no one has the part on the shelf - has to come from Korea.

Understand it's a new 2nd Gen car so parts might be slow to get into the system as they are building the cars but is anyone else running into parts availability issues?
Thanks,
Bill

They probably don't stock those parts because the car is so new and it is a relatively low volume seller compared to other vehicles, and not many of those parts need to be replaced.

I have been on this forum a long time, and although a fair number of windshields need to replaced (especially up north were they get a lot of cracks due to winter sanding of streets), I have never heard of anyone having trouble with power window motor (I guess that is a 2015 problem).

Let's hope we don't have to order parts through Kim Jong-un going forward. Things are tense along the 38th Parallel.

I haven't had to have any parts ordered yet, but it is strange they need to order these things from Korea. It sounds like they haven't put any emphasis into their parts supply chain. I'm sure it's part of a cost cutting measure, but c'mon, these cars ain't cheap! Good luck!

My local Stealerships say the same thing... so I drive an hour away to a better dealership that never seems to have a problem getting parts.

For the tail light recall, I ordered the parts locally and they told me it was backordered with no ETA. I then called my other dealership and they said 3 days for parts. They got the parts in, fixed my car and the local place STILL doesn't have the parts in. I wonder if some places that do more business have more pull.

Dealers don't make any money doing warranty repairs. The labor reimbursement that they get from HMA is far less than for non-warranty work and they don't make money on parts mark-up, so if they are busy they try and blow people off and hope they go somewhere else for warranty work.

I have the rear driver side power window out. Dealer said 2 weeks for delivery. None in North America.

same here in Canada. waited about a week for the tire recall issue to be resolved, and about a week to get the replacement tail lights (water/condensation issue). not as long as some of you...but so used to places getting parts that same day (toyota, dodge, ford, etc)

Most Toyota, Dodge, Ford, etc vehicles sold in the USA are assembled in the USA. The Genesis is a relatively low volume car assembled in Korea. I would bet that getting a part for Hyundai made in USA (Sonata, etc) is a lot easier/faster.
