  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My backup camera seems to have conked out. It was working until last week when the screen started showing black with a few lines across it. Can this be fixed or do I have to replace it? I don't want to spend $300+ for a new camera.

Thanks...

Shouldn't the warranty cover the back-up camera?

This just started happening on my 2011 4.6. Its intermittent. You can tell the screen is on... To me, the symptom suggests a bad camera or loose wire.

Happened to me 2 years ago and got it replaced under warranty, I took a video of it occurring and that was good enough for a new camera replacement.

Take it to the dealer. Mine did that last week. Initially they thought it was the head unit, but i t was indeed the back up camera. All work and parts covered under my warranty.

Mine just died as well, and unfortunately mine is out of warranty.

I contacted Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. and advised them that a number of on the "genesisowners.com" site had problems with the camera. They advised me that there was no service bulletin with regards to this issue...so for me I'm SOL with regards to cost recovery even though to me this is a safety issue (to some extent).

If this is under electronics which I think it is then it's only covered under a 3yrs period.

I just took my 2011 with 48,000 miles on it into Crown Hyundai I St Petersburg, FL b/c the back up camera was on the fritz. They took care of it and said it was covered under warranty.

I'll also add that their service department was over the top great. I dropped off the car and was back on the road with a loaner car in 10 minutes. My car was fixed the same day.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Does anyone know if there is a replacement camera for 2010 Genesis? The resolution on mine is grainy and would love to replace it with something more HD. The camera on my wife's 2013 Santa Fe is so much clearer than the Genesis.

Joined up today and saw this rear camera issue - I have just purchased a 2010 sedan, the backup camera stops working occasionally. I opened and closed the trunk and it starts working again. Will look at it further, but this could just be a loose connection for all you guys with the problem !!
Will report back after the weekend :)

You might look here. Seems pretty cheap, certainly enough to play around with. Swap the camera element from one of these other units(?) :D
