If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Bad power steering pump or bad rack question

You can do it J I did it even though it took me a while You just have to be patient and follow steps: 1. Check Electric Power Connectors for power with prob Make sure that they are not damaged or corroded and can be fully inserted in EHPS pump sockets 2. Check lines and pressure at high pressure terminal Make sure No kinked lines No leaks or damaged hoses 3. Next step will be that rack and pinion It's actually easy to install if it's distorted but I hope that you don't have to go that far Ask Gunkk for the Factory Repair Manual Steering System Page
How many volts should be at the connectors? When I put my hand on the high pressure hose I honestly can't tell if any fluid is flowing through it...I have put pressure on the system and it holds and I don't see any leaks

12 volts but voltage is secondary what you want to check out is an indication of power at the harness plugs ie the two wired plug contacts and the three wired actuator plug contacts Probe all 5 contacts Make sure that your power plugs can tightly plug in your EHPS pump sockets without play If the plug connectors look good and undamaged there's an indication of power on both plugs then the next issue will be your EHPS pump

Ok good and bad news... tried to bleed the line again the fluid kept backing up out of the reservoir then all of a sudden I see a really dark color fluid coming out ( never saw it this dark ) I put my hand on the high pressure line and this time I could actually feel the fluid moving...Yesssss! I siphoned as much of the fluid out as I could then put fresh fluid in and bled it again...power steering working...now the bad...I had removed the connections and sprayed electrical contact cleaner on them jiggled some wiring around now I don't know if it was the air in the line or the wiring ...I'm leaning towards the wiring ... before I put everything back together I'm going to move the wiring around and see if the pump stops working again...thanks for your suggestions and motivating me to give it another shot.

Absolutely You can do for sure Exciting experiment Lo and behold you will see it do the magic "Good and Bad news" that was hilarious Stay on it though That's what I did until it worked

Great thread! I really enjoyed reading and glad you got the issue resolved.

Not sure if my situation might be similar or not.

I have a 2011 4.6 sedan. This morning while driving to work, the steering got extremely difficult as I was turning to pull into the parking lot. It got even harder to turn the wheel when trying to actually park in a stall.

About an hour after being at the office, I went out to check on the car to see if it may have been a freak occurrence. Upon intial start-up, steering seemed smooth and normal. After a few turns of the wheel, it began to feel hard again. It actually felt like it was fighting / resisting me as I was turning the wheel in each direction. Also, the amount that I could turn the wheel each direction became less and less with each turn. Finally, it seemed like it gave out completely and I don't feel any power steering at all. Steering wheel feels difficult to turn.

Does anyone think this could be the EHPS pump, or possibly electrical connection, similar to what others experienced in this thread?

Note: Power steering reservoir fluid is full. Also, I noticed maybe about 3 days ago that the battery indicator light had come on the dash display. Not sure if this has any connection to the lack of power steering that just occurred today.

I prefer to do most repairs myself and avoid the deal and other shops if at all possible.

Any help and/or feedback would be very much appreciated!

I have enjoyed reading both of your posts on this issue... I know the last post was over a year ago but I am curious in the end both cars are V8, are using EHPS pumps, and ended up needing there fluids flushed, the two EHPS terminals cleaned, and re-seated yes?

I am asking because I am on my 2nd Genny. My first was a 2012 R-Spec 5.0 and other than the none oil burning issue it was great. I drove it till it had 189K miles on it, sold it and found out 3 months later the person that purchased it blow the engine... Go Figure! In 2021 I looked everyware for a 2014. They all were either abused or the seller wanted over $20k for them. I found a 2013 R-Spec with only 46K miles on it in Georgia. After all the wheeling, dealing, shipping, taxes, and fees I got it for $17,100. For the last 2 1/2 years the car has been perfect. In the last 4 months it has turned into a money pit. First the Alternator, then the Battery, and two months ago my break system went to crap.... $3000 later I found that the issue was contaminated fluid. What ever you do, do not take your Genny to the Dealer.... I have had my car back now for two weeks. Today i was in heavy traffic and stopped. I had to make a sharp turn to the right lane trying not to hit the car in front of me. Turned the wheel as far tot he right as I could, gave it gas... The car stalled and the dash lit-up like a christmas tree. I fired the car right up and keeped driving but that sucked... It did it to me twice with in a 30 minute window... Thoughts?
