  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone, I am a new owner (September 2009) and absolutly love my new Genesis 3.8 Tech. Black on Black. The one thing that has bothered me for some time is an intermitant RUMBLE which sometimes appears at 90kph (55mph) I have been reading all the forums looking for a hint to my problem. I have started to drive to the dealership and on the way there the problem disappears. I would feel it was a waste of time to go there when I can`t demostrate the problem.

I have read PDI`s not be completed and rear axle lubricant being absent. Plastic covering being left on, you know that blue protective plastic strips which are supposed to be removed on the PDI, of which I found many areas not attended to. If the PDI is done so haphazardly how can we the costumer be confident that the car which you worked so hard to pay for is safe and good to go. Could my problem be a lack of lubricant in the rear end or no grease on a failing wheel bearing.

I also have read about tire belt problems with Dunlops which could be the problem. The belt seperates from the tire core and you get a vibration.

Any help would be much appreciated if you have had a similiar problem.

Thanks

I think it would help if you were more specific on where or what feels like it's the problem. It almost sounds like you may have flat spots on the tires, which can happen when the car sits for long periods of time etc. This is why I will have my car on jack stands this winter.

There has been a TSB issued for a problem that sounds similar, but it depends on you date of manufacturer for your car and your engine (it was fixed on the manufacturing line at different times for V8 and V6). Check you date on the driver door jam and then search this forum for a description of the TSB to see if it may be the same problem.

Kev,

I have experienced the same problem, when i accelerate i hear a rumbling i decelerate a little then the rumbling goes away but i start to smell some rubber burning. Its happened a few times in the past few weeks, so i try not to rev the engine too quickly. This could be the same thing you are talking about.
