Base radio owners - upgrades you've made!

I just purchased a 2012 Genesis Sedan with just the base audio system. I didn't want to spring for the upgrade packages because I just didn't think it was worth it because I'm a total SQ snob. I listened to the Lexicon system and it is very good, but I think I can do better.

So, I was wondering what upgrades people with base audio systems have done to their Gennies.

I have 4 Focal 165CVX speakers that I'm planning to put in along with a Schosche 600W amp to start. Then I'm going to look for ways to gain more control over the frequency content of the audio using an equalizer system, perhaps like an Audison Bit One (or Bit Ten if they can come out with it here in the states.

My primary listening is classical, and especially a lot of organ, thus the reason for the Focals because they have a very flat response curve that suits classical well.

I hoped for something, but I know my listening is unique.

I like the Lexicon system for what it is. I just wish it was more suited to a flatter response for classical music, especially in the bass. But that's my problem. Honestly, the base system sounds pretty good for basic background rock, jazz and other(!).

I hope I didn't waste anyone's time looking at my request.

No time wasted at all, but the best place to take your question is to your local audio experts so you can get that flat response you seek. Myself I will be getting the 17 speaker Lexicon system in a 2012 genesis sedan r-spec as I find it simply amazing especially after I tweak the treble / midrange and bass settings which is a must on any car OEM audio unit. It sounds like you already know much more than most of us about audio equipment already.

You could probably do something with the speakers and possible an amp but you are pretty much stuck with the head unit and whatever limitations exist in it. I have the 17 speaker system and it is quite possibly the best audio system I have ever had in a vehicle. As far as extra control over all the sound frequencies you could mount some kind of equalizer device in the glove box or under the seat between the amp and the head unit.
