  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone,

I have a 2021 Genesis GV80, and I’m facing a battery drain issue. The car does not enter standby mode after being turned off. The power consumption remains at 3.5A, sometimes spiking up to 7A before dropping back down.

As a result, my battery drains overnight, and I have to deal with a dead battery in the morning.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any advice on diagnosing or fixing this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

If you happen to own a thermal camera (i recently bought this inexpensive one for checking my home for thermal loss during the winter), you might try viewing the fuse panel in the engine compartment. The circuit responsible might show up as hotter than the surrounding fuses. This may at least point you in the right direction. If you dont have a thermal camera, you can also get a thermal gun (looks like a Star Trek Phaser) quite cheap. Another possibility perhaps, if you have a proximity key, is that it is too close to your vehicle at night. I seem to recall the 2025 GV80 manual implying they key can be detected at something like 15-20 feet, iirc. Sorry to say, other than that, more sophisticated diagnostics are probably in your future. Sorry I'm not much help. Good luck!
