  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dear all,

I discovered recently that my car battery drains if parked more than 24hrs. I own a genesis sedan 2011 model. However, within 12-18 hours the car starts easily.

what could likely be the cause as I would have to jump start the car each time this occurs. Anyone with similar experience?

There's probably a short somewhere causing the battery to drain continuously. You'll need to inspect all the wires and connections looking for something frayed and rubbing against the frame. I went through this once, it took my guy almost a whole day to find the problem.

How long have you owned this car? How long has the issue been happening?

I got it from a dealer 5 months ago. And i started experiencing that since that time. althogh the dealer told me it was the battery that has a problem in which i bought a new battery. Still the problem persists...

Post a photo of your underhood fuse box. I may know exactly what your problem is and it will take you 10 seconds to fix it if I'm right. Of course I mean with the cover off and so that all fuses are clearly visible.

Showreal87, you still out there? You wanna fix that drain or not?

Then take a photo which clearly shows each fuse and its position. I will ask you a question about a fuse in a particular location. You can refer to your photo to answer the question.

Are you sure the fan shuts off after a certain period of time?

Ok! I've done that

Would the battery be drained after 2 weeks in the. Airport parking lot?

Anybody hook up a trickle charger to the battery in the trunk? Looks like it would need to be through the back seat or the truck lights would stay on.

Trunk light does off after some time. Not sure how long, but I had mine open a while and the light was out when I came back.

I did, I just closed the trunk on the cord, it wasn't very thick. Everything was fine.
