  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
If there is a better spot for this thread could someone please move it

I just bought a 09 genesis sedan it has the nav heated seats ect (not sure if that’s an option or standard is why I stated)

But anyway it has some electrical problems the battery light stays on the whole time I’m driving, it pops up on my screen to have the car running while I’m using multi media when I’m driving down the road had the alternator and battery both tested at advance they said they was good I tested the voltage with my Multimeter and I’m getting 13.5 volts

But the main problem Im having is it started not wanting shift out of park unless I hold down the shift interlock Button and i then noticed my brake and reverse lights were not working so the first thing I did was replace the brake pedal switch hoping that would fix the shifting and brake light problem but it did not

i unhooked the battery and hooked it back up and the shifting problem stopped but then started back a few days later but back to the light problem

I checked the relays and fuses under the hood and according to the chart on the fuse box lid it looks to me like it has 2 relays and 2 fuses if I’m reading it right I’ll post pics but anyway the 2 spots it’s showing those relays to go in do not have contacts for a relay down in the holes so now I’m stumped

According to the diagram those are only used in the 4.6L model. I am guessing yours is a 3.8L. There should be another fuse/circuit breaker on one of the internal panels.

See in the description below is shows that the fuse #16 is the fuse that protects the relays, and there is the note about the 4.6L. From your picture it appears that all three are missing so it would stand to reason that yours is the 3.8L model and those were never supposed to be there, they are controlled elsewhere.

  • However, on this fuse box it shops a 10A stop lamp fuse that also has GENERATOR listed. I would certainly check that one as well as the inhibitor switch fuse 2 to the right.

  • Hope this helps, if you would like the complete wiring diagram or a different section just let me know.

This may not be your problem but , make sure the ground cable from the battery is firmly attached to trunk floor and that it has a clean connection. Also, IMO its your battery not holding a full charge. And, Is it the correct battery for the car?
