My car is at the dealership now for battery charging problems. My daughter traveled from Foley AL to Nashville this past week and she had lots of problems with charging. We charged the car the night before she left on 100% and got a whopping 281 miles which was a first. But during her trip (11 stops) she never got a decent charge and it had her very worried about making it to the next charging station. Most of the charges she got were 20% to 25% below what they should have been. Last night before we had the dealer pick up the car we charged it at 100% and only got 199 miles. That 25% below what it should have been. When we are "not" using the car to travel we always set the cars max charging setting to 90% as recommended. I would attatch a picture but the forum only likes low res photos.
UPDATE 7-2-25: My Genesis dealer is giving me the runaround about my charging problem. So this was my response to him.
Bryan,
I appreciate you consulting with Techline, but their explanation that 199 miles on a full 100% charge is "within normal parameters" simply doesn't make sense given my two years of experience with my car and the vehicle's advertised range.
I'm not trying to be difficult, but there are too many consistent examples of this issue including the 10 stops to recharge last week for it to be considered normal. The overnight charge at my home this Monday night, yielded only 199 miles after a full charge, is a significant concern on its own. I purchased a vehicle advertised to offer 250 miles on a full charge, not one that consistently delivers under 200 miles.
No one would willingly take a trip out of town, particularly a woman, with a car that has a 25% charging deficiency compared to its stated capabilities. This isn't just about varying driving conditions; it's about a fundamental discrepancy in the vehicle's performance.
I understand you'll submit this to a field service engineer, and I hope they will investigate this thoroughly with an open mind. As you said, you'd rather find a problem than not, and I'm confident a problem exists here.
