  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just for curiousity, I have been checking Carmax.com on a regular basis looking for the first Genesis sedan to hit their lot. Low and behold, one shows up today at their Louisville, KY outlet. Of course, it may not be the first one, but it is the first one I have seen since I started checking in December. I am always interested in what Carmax does, as it is usually a good gauge on what cars are going for these days. It looks like a base V6 with 11K miles. Going for roughly below $30K. Now I have to keep checking to see how long it stays there!

Not a base, it has leather trim and the Lexicon 14 speaker system. It's listed as the premium package, which seems right as the pictures look like the 17" wheels to me (Premium Plus has 18" wheels).

I figured it wasn't a base, since I paid pretty much that same price for my base model brand new. Actually, I still find that Carmax price a little high even for the premium package but then, I always find Carmax prices high. I guess that's what you get for the luxury of a "no haggle" buying experience.

Later,
Tom

Here's some information straight from Manheim, the system used by dealers and auctions to price their vehicles:

A black 4.6 was sold in Seattle on 1/29/09 with 11 miles for $32,600.00 no info on eqpt.

A 3.8 was sold in Nevada on 1/8/09 with 704 miles for $24,250.00
Another 3.8 was sold in Nevada on same date with 23 miles for $25,750.00

The only thing that seems to really count on resale is the condition of the vehicle. It appears that accessories are of little real concern.

The equipment i guess is always little concern. If you looked at sienna. it is pretty much the same.

Good info here from all. I obviously didn't look at the specs of that vehicle on CARMAX well enough to see how it was equipped in relation to how it was priced. But it appears from reading what Bishop666 has posted, that it might not matter. What about location? That has to count for something. It always does when you price a car on Edmunds.com. Might not be a lot, but something.
