I generally go to Discount Tire (
http://www.discountire.com) and take with me any ads or other online pricing I can find....plus they always are offering some sort of rebate(s). They are all over the country and along the interstates if you need them.
We have a 2004 Envoy, and nearly two years ago I replaced a set of SEVERELY sidewall-cracked Michelin tires with Yokohama tires. Well, after 14,000 miles and a trip back east to OH last October (we're in AZ), those tires started sidewall cracking. So a few weeks ago, I took it back to Discount, which in turn called Yokohama, and in short time, I got a new set of 4 tires for $350 (the original price for the 4 tires was nearly $1000. Well, while there, there was a 'rebate' advertised that said if you buy any 4 tires you get, I think it was $50 or something like that back in a rebate. I asked the store manager and he said, yea, all the invoice shows is that I bought 4 tires, so while I stood there , I applied for the rebate via my 'droid phone and that dropped the price to $300 (I got a check in two weeks)....I guess I could live with that, so I was OK with it. After several sets of tires, you get to know the manager. You never get that with buying "online" and then having to pay to get them mounted/balanced somewhere.
With Discount Tires, we drove across country and got the tires balanced and rotated before we headed back this way.
I bought 4 new Yokohama tires for my 2006 Sonata a few months ago as well, figuring I'd keep the car. Well, we traded the car for the Genesis in July. I went to Discount and asked the manager if the tire warranty I purchased on the $600 tires for the Sonata was refundable. He said no, but then offered me, at NO COST, the lifetime rotation and balance for the OEM Michelins that are
on the Genesis, and that was fine by me. I could have bought the road hazard warranty separately for the tires as well (about $140 for the 4 expensive tires on the Genny), but since we got the tire and
wheel warranty when we got the car, I opted not to do it with Discount (overlapping coverage, not necessary). So yea, I'll recommend Discount Tire anytime as they've always treated me great, and will match prices. IMHO, though, to me it doesn't pay to 'save a few' bucks to mail order tires (motorcycle tires included) and have to deal with all the extra hassle. IMHO, though.
