  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just purchased a pre-owned 2011 Genesis 4.6 with tech like 2 weeks ago. The interior lights didn't work, but I didn't think that was a big deal. After trying to replace the fuse, still no go. I figured I would live with it until I had a chance to bring it into a Hyundai dealer, as I told the dealer I bought it from about the issues.

Well over the weekend my brake lights weren't working, and was fortunate enough to have someone at a stop light tell me. I took it to the dealer today and that it was the Z01 diod that needed to be replaced. After waiting about 90 minutes, the service rep comes out and informs me it is much more than that.

I was bummin' when she said she thought it might not be under warranty. I immediately called the dealer I bought the car from, and thankfully they stepped up. If for some reason the resolution isn't covered under warranty, the dealer I bought it from will be picking up the tab.

I love the car and hope this is something that can be resolved. For now I am stuck driving a 2013 Chevy Impala. Just not the same!

I know others have had similar issues, I would love to hear your thoughts, as I wait to get my car back!

Can you explain why it would not be under warranty? How many miles are on the car?

Mark, The service rep first told me that it looked like some type of water damage or seepage, but they really couldn't tell. I called at the end of the day, and so far they hadn't found anything that would put it outside of the warranty. The car has 37,000 miles on it, so there is plenty of warranty left. Plus I have an extended warranty.

Just sucks only having the car for 2 weeks and having this happen. The good news is the independent dealer I bought it from already contacted the service rep I am working with at the Hyundai dealership, and they will cover all costs if it is outside of warranty. So either way I should be good.

I am very fortunate in that I don't drive a lot, and I can afford to buy new cars when I need a new one. Otherwise I am pretty sure that I would be on death-row by now.

Well the fixed the interior light not working, and fixed the break lights, which was the diod issue. Now my trunk won't open, so they screwed up the wiring for that some how. I'll take that over no break lights though.

Still love the car, worth the little bit of hassle!

Have you tried opening the trunk with the physical key that's in the key fob? Are you trying to open the trunk with the key fob or the button on the trunk? If so, be sure to open the glove box and check to make sure the dealer didn't switch the setting for some reason. There is a switch to activate electronic trunk opening via key fob or button on trunk.

The post below is what I was getting at. Thanks Kat!

Or the dealer may have activated the valet button in the glove box

Thanks for the tips guys. I called the dealer, and that is the first thing they had me check. I pressed and de-pressed the valet switch, and that isn't the case. I can open the trunk with the key just fine. So that leads me to believe when they were doing some of the electrical work, something else happened.

I will get it fixed this week at some point.
