  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Pohanka Hyundai in Salisbury, Maryland just got in a BLK/Tan 4.6 Tech today. I took my BLK/Tan Tech V6 over for a get acquainted session. Both are beautiful automobiles, but I'm still liking my V6. Definitely decided not to go with the chrome strips below the doors as it was just too much for my taste. Didn't drive the TAU yet but may tomorrow. She's still not spoken for so if you just have to have yours today and you're in the Mid-Atlantic region, PM me for the contact info on a great sales rep who knows the car.

I drove down to Pohanka Hyundai in Salisbury, Maryland over the weekend to see the 4.6 Black/Tan. When I arrived the 4.6 Genesis was still in prep but they pulled it out so I could see it. The first hint of what would turn out to be a superior dealership experience. This is the first Hyundai dealership that seemed to understand the concept of customer satisfction and service that I have come across.

First off, the Sales Manager and most of his staff are Genesis certified. They took the time and effort to go to a special training session-they had to pay for it themseleves and take the time off the regular lot to go to Virgina. This was the first sales team that I ever spoke with that actually knew the Genesis inside and out. You could have a real discussion about the car with them. The pluses and the minuses and the things we wish were a little different etc. These guys were all real pros. They also exhibited a unabashed joy and feeling of honor to have the Genesis in thier showroom. No pressure, just pure customer service. They proudly display thier Genesis certifications on frames on thier desks.

Unfortunately, I will wait on the Black/Saddle v8 or I would have driven home in that Black/tan V8. If anyone is even remotely close to this dealership I would give them my highest recomendation. As an owner of MB and Lexus this dealership exceeded every expectation I had for the visit. If all Hyundai dealers conducted themselves in the manner each and every person at Pohantka Hyundai demonstrated to me the Hyundai brand name and reputation would improve dramaticly and instantly. The sales team at Pohanka Hyundai should be very proud of themselves! In my mind it is obvious why they got the first V8 on the East Coast. They deserved it.

A few quick reactions to the production V8 vs the one I saw at the Test Drive event. The black paint was far superior on this production car. The "imbedded crystals" in the finish sparkled like diamonds giving off blue, white, red and green relections from the sun. Remember this car still had not been prepped. I do not remember that from the test cars and never noticed it on the black V6's I have seen to that degree at all. And no sign of orange peel. The V8 wheels are nicer than the V6 wheels, still definately Hyundai, they are bit more elegant. Fit, finish was exceptional. The plastic was still over the seats so I did not have a real good feel for any difference in the leather. The tan interior seating was accompaied by the dark brown leather accent on the dash. This is the same combo as in the V6 so the rumors of all Black dash accents on the V8 appear to be untrue.

I continued my drive to Mrytle Beach and back without seeing a single Genesis on the entire trip on the road. This is the trip I had been dreaming of taking my new Genesis on. But alas, 1400 more miles on the Lexus Rx300(still a great car with 115,000 miles) and another reminder of the difference in the blue states vs. the red states courtesy of the North Carolina state trooper who pulled my NJ plates over while in the right lane while supposedly doing 78 mph(no radar-"just my sperience in judging speeds sir") as over 20 cars with North Carolina plates zipped by us in the left lane doing 80 to 90mph.... Maybe it was a good thing I did not have the Genesis because I might have been tempted to take his unmarked red Charger for a little ride...and I might be sitting in a North Carloina jail cell with Bubba instead of blogging with y'all.

@ Gipp,

Glad you could stop by to see the V8, even more glad the team at Pohanka impressed you. They've treated me well (and not just economically) for over 8 years now, and that's the main reason I keep going back. They are pros and work hard to keep a good rep.

BTW, the Black on tan is still there. I stopped by today for my first oil change and the ECM update TSB. They also have a Silver Tech 3.8 arrive a couple of days ago.
