  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone look into adding this items? The factory has such an insallation but I don't know where to get it.

I remember seeing this aout a year ago when i was still getting smart on the Genesis and making a car buying decision. The middle east web site for the genesis has it...I think it's at http://www.hyundai-genesis.com/ where I saw it. It is mounted on the front rib in the middle of the grill and allows you to see side to side when blocked by walls at the drivers location...great for pulling out of tight spots with little or no visibility.

Blind spot mirrors will do the trick and wont break and piss you off. I find the side mirrors on this car to be very large and angled very well. The blind spot on this car is tiny and visibility is the best of any sedan I have ever owned. Cameras, alarms, sensors, are all replacements for skill. Instead of trying to become better drivers, we're getting lazier and more dependent on technology.

I think you're talking about two (or three) different things:

  1. Left or right blind spots that you can't see in the side mirrors. That's where a blind spot mirror works.
  2. Front left or right blind spots when emerging from a parking spot or garage where you're boxed in and can't see cross traffic. That's where a front, wide-angle camera would come in handy (or some sonar sensor).
  3. Rear left or right blind spots when reversing out of a parking space or garage where you're boxed in and can't see cross traffic. The Genesis camera can help, but not to a great extent due to the camera placement. This is where a blind spot warning system like Ford's Cross Traffic Warning System is ideal.

The Korean Equus has this feature too. The black, wart camera sits on the nose of the grille.

You got it DataGuy. I already am smart enought to look in rear view mirrors to see rear views.

These things are great for lots of situations where you cannot see what is coming from the right (or Left ) and with theses you can sneak a peek around a car or a building especially when you are close up next to them and see when the coast is clear.

I would love em, but need some info on where to buy and how to interface with the drivers information system display.
Grip :)

Don't know, but mikec found a tidbit. See post #5 in http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=2598

I think the KDM Genesis (and like blasterguam said, the ME version) has front camera, so it might be possible to source the camera, but I don't know whether the software in the DIS will support the front camera, nor how the front camera display would activate (automatically when < 5mph from a stop?).

Anyone who figures out a working front camera will be a rock star! :)

Lots of good stuff DATAGUY, I would dearly love a rear seat screen and video system.

It looks funky, just like the Korean grille and the grille of the Equus. The camera definitely ruins the lines of the front.

Any new information on forward looking blind spot camera. Where can you get one, is this an option through the dealership? It does show information about this in the owners manaual, but it stops short.

This is not a total answer, but it is a good idea anyway. This web site shows how to adjust your rear view mirrors to see 100 Percent better. It takes some getting used to, but I have been using this for about 2 months and now I couldn't do without it.

Give it a try, but be careful to start. It present a very different view, but you can look at the side mirror and then the windshield rear view mirror and get a complete picture. No turning in my seat anymore.
