If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

You just bought this car and didn’t realize this was a problem? It’s broken. Of course someone will fix it. You just have to pay for it.

A few people had a problem. They were not able to reproduce it at the dealer. They can't fix what they don't see broken. Certainly not going to be a recall because of a few problems that have yet to be diagnosed.

But he is able to reproduce it. He says it keeps coming on. So they should be able to diagnose it.

He says it keep coming on. Unless the dealer sees it or it is a known problem, he is SOL. If he can get to the dealer there is a good chance. Perhaps if he left it at the dealer for a tech to take home and it comes on, something could be done.

^+1
I had a similar thing, while parked somewhere, someone hit the corner of the bumper and you couldn't even tell, but once the bumper cover was removed, you could see the BSD sender unit's brackets were bent.

Before seeing this, the dealer would reset it and the issue would come back in a few weeks. bent the brackets back and all was good after that.

I had the SASK cancel go off a couple times when I was in torrential rain to where it was almost impossible to drive. When the rain eased up all went back to normal.

this is pretty common. Specially you will notice it on Canadian hwy, where there is no car around for over 45min to 1hr. It will be cancelled. I can reproduce it all the time. I talked to the dealer, they said it is by design. what do you guys think?

I think it would be a stupid design. If you went 45 minutes and did not use the brakes, they are not disabled are they? Of course no, you will need them at some point. You may also want the BSD to work if you go off the highway too.
No mention of cancelling in the manual. I would think they want you aware of it. Makes no sense to me.

The BSD in this car is stupid in general, it doesn't kick in unless you are moving 25mph which is just stupid, I have nearly been sideswiped twice by idiots merging onto a stop and go highway because I wasn't going above 25 and they decided they didn't want me in front of them so they swooped up into my blind spot as I was merging.

No other vehicle I have ever owned with BSD worked this way, it was functional from 0mph and it never shut of due to inactivity..

completely bad design and one of the things that bother me about the car. I still use my mirrors and look over my shoulder, but with this type of technology in the car one expects it to function at anytime the vehicle is in motion, not just at certain speeds or under certain conditions.

Actually it’s 20mph at least for the G90. That is pretty slow and slow enough for me. There must be a technical reason why it doesn’t go to 0mph

you are correct it is 20, but regardless, stupid design.

every other manufacturer: Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan, GM, etc. as your foot isn't on the brake it is active. I've owned multiple cars with BSM and currently own 2 other makes with it, and the Genesis is the only one with this idiocincracy, and I hate it.

Driving in high traffic urban areas like L.A. you need it for speeds under 20mph, to many jack-hats around that purposely drive in your blind spot or swoop up to prevent you from changing lanes or merging.

I agree. So I have tested this. I drove on a lonely hwy. The BSD got cancelled. Then I came back into city where lots of traffic on the road. after about 5 min (after passing many cars) it started working again. it doesn't make any sense to me. very stupid design.

I feel like I need to send an email to Hyundai head office. is there an email or any of you guys done it? is it even worth my time?

I get the “bsd canceled” message frequently. Happens when the car is clean and the weather is clear. Happens when the BSD button is turned on or when it is turned off. The only way to clear the alert is to turn off the car. The alert covers the entire dashboard screen and won’t go away. I took my 2015 Genesis to two different dealers. They both told me they can’t fix it because “they can’t recreate the issue and there are no error codes”. I contacted Hyundai customer care. After wasting hours of my life, they also said there is nothing they can (or are willing) to do. I know this is a known issue because it is all over the forums. It affects not only Genesis but all Hyundai vehicles with this piece of crap BSD feature. Buyer beware!!!

Mine does this as well. Service department at local dealership gave me a BS line about "It's a feature to save fuel by turning off this power hungry feature when you drive highway for long periods of time." Definitely an inherent fault in the system that should have been warranty.

Mine will do this when in a severe storm... I figure it can’t see the road lines and detect obstacles clearly so it shuts the system down. After the weather clears it eventually comes back on.

Just coming back to this thread after a while to see if there are any updates. I took my vehicle to a couple of different dealers on this issue. They did diagnostics. They admitted there was a problem, but were unwilling to fix it since there was no known solution. I contacted Hyundai and they denied any additional support. Basically, this is just crap customer service and is probably going to prevent me from buying another vehicle by Hyundai / Genesis again. I never had a customer service problem like this from Honda, and I had some interesting issues with vehicles over the years. Honestly, I wouldn’t really care about this if there was a way to get the damn BSD Canceled message to go away from my dash. But it just keeps dinging and dinging; and there is it is again. My kids now calls this car the “BSD Canceled”.

There is a fix. They replace the defective right rear module. It's considered the "master" BSD module. But unless they're utterly clueless they should have realized that the car set a code and the code is valid.

Regardless of the weather conditions Hyundai should address this ' Problem ' as it is very annoying. I have had the car in where they changed the dash module then the whole wire harness, then they recalibrated the whole unit and guess what ….it still keeps coming on. Tried contacting Hyundai head office Canada number of time guess what 'they don't give a dam' never answer by mail and they expect me to buy another one....got to be joking! Beautiful car interior and exterior but for God's sake deal with the issues as people who read these complaints will move to another brand. The dealership in Winnipeg are trying their best to get me into a new model 2020 but being a very annoyed customer it probably will not happen......Bye bye Hyundai and Genesis! One great car with very poor relationship with their customers.....Come on Hyundai pull up your socks!

I have the same problem with my 2016 Genesis and they tell me the same thing, they can't recreate it. So there's nothing can be done. Hyundai need to find a fix and do a recall. So annoying.
