Blind Spot Monitoring

Wondering if anybody else is having any issues with the Blind Spot Monitor. The drivers side works perfectly but the passenger side works intermittently. Sometimes you get the display and at other times nothing.

Wondering if it's a big deal to repair or replace.

I think it is a quick fix for the dealer. They just pop in a new sensor. The issue might be having it not work for them while they have your car. I recommend taking a video if you can so you can show them unless it is happening all the time so they can be sure to see the issue.

Yes, that happens to me... Haven't got around to taking it to the dealer yet.

Not sure if this has been mentioned - but one possibility could be that you drive closer to to left lane marker which would cause more alerts on that side. Have you tried making an effort to drive more towards the right lane marker to see if there is any difference?

From what I can tell, I am not favoring the left side. As I pass a car being dead center in the left lane, sometimes it works other times no. Otherwise the best car I've owned.

Can it be that the sensor works differently if you are passing him than if he is passing you? Of course, he should not be passing you on your right.

I've noticed this too and I've done my own little test. It seems that the sensors don't activate when you are passing a car but rather when a car is passing you. Amazing technology.

+1. It is amazing! I'm pretty sure it also takes into account the speed differential of the two cars which makes the warnings seem different under different circumstances. Passing a car slowly will still activate the warning in the way you'd expect, but I've noticed that if I'm going quite a bit faster when I pass a car and turn my signal on the system doesn't warn me 'cuz it knows I'm going to be out of the "danger zone" before I actually start to move over.

I concur with this observation, or would still be useful if Hyundai spelt it out in a form of a manual or something

Here is the info from the manual. It does state that it is based on speed. See first pic below from manual.
