I know... I cancelled Dec 1. I'm so disappointed. I have a 2018 G80 Ultimate. Now looking at a 2020 sport (prefer last gen styling) or a 21 (I like this gen tech).Well it seems this day has finally arrived, tried accessing the app on my phone this morning and no joy….
True.. trying to get the twin turbo also..So we're just SOOL here? This was my main means of remote start and it seems hyaundai flipped the switch at midnight as it worked perfectly fine the 31st. They also charged me on the 26th for another month so if it's truly the end I'm going to get that refund.
Totally ridiculous they offer no support going forward. Flipping the switch at midnight really goes to show it's less of the US not supporting 3g anymore and more hyundai not wanting to pay regulatory fees anymore so they're killing it off. Real slap in the face right there TBH.
Went to the site today to see if I can turn the service back on and all I get is a spinning circle on the page asking about updating my pin. I'm gonna try to raise a stink on this come Monday but I feel it's ultimately pointless. Really gross they aren't offering at the very least a SIM upgrade to 4g. I'd gladly pay the upgrade instead of buying a whole new car!
You probably should demand a sim upgrade for your 2018 G80 Ultimate to a 2020 sport. I’m sure they have it but are just hiding it in the same place they are keeping @bobdole776 4g sim.True.. trying to get the twin turbo also... I know I don't need it.. Have a bike (ZX14 and a McLaren mustang) that I ride in the summer.
What switch did they flip? When did Hyundai buy Verizon? So we're just SOOL here? Verizon has made the reasons that they had to turn off 3G very clear, Please Google it for yourself. This wasn't Hyundai's choice at all, and really Verizon had little choice either. Time moves on......I don’t know why they had to pull the switch if it worked perfectly fine.
We've been had....Genesis knew of this 3G issue years ago; should step up and upgrade affected vehicles at NO CHARGE. As an emerging brand they shot themselves in the foot. I predict Genesis sales will plummet due to lack of customer support. My 2019 G80 Sport lost value...and Genesis lost a repeat customer. Maybe they should use the money for their golf tournament for G5 upgrades instead. So we're just SOOL here? Yes, they should replace the head units. Retail price is $3500 but they are not paying that much. We've been had....Genesis knew of this 3G issue years ago; should step up and upgrade affected vehicles at NO CHARGE. They make three versions. I paid that for the middle one installed. The others were about $100 difference.Compustar at best buy is highly rated but expensive,$469 + installation.
Yes as smaller fob. Minor inconvenience for me as they are clipped together. I have the 1900S. The fob will show me a green light when the car starts. The lower priced model does not. The higher priced can use the phone but there is a subscription price for it.Problem i see is having to carry 2 remotes..unless the aftermarket units can accomplish remote start and the door locks, trunk and panic mode .
do they do this on yours Ed?
Nope, mine works just as it always did.Edit: I had to plug into USB in order to get to Android auto, then disconnected it, then Bluetooth came back
Did this completely kill being able to pair your smartphone to the car via Bluetooth, as well? My phone now can't find my 18 g80 sport, nor will the car find my phone when it is trying to search for devices
Nope, no difference. The only thing is that the app no longer works to get status from the car or to do anything, like remote start.Edit: I had to plug into USB in order to get to Android auto, then disconnected it, then Bluetooth came back
